The parallel shots of Jack being beaten up by Boss' underlings and Joke hurting himself was genius, not just because of the cinematic value but also because it highlights the difference between their characters so beautifully!

We have Jack who has always been let down by the society and sees the world as his biggest enemy on one side. His poverty, his parents who died leaving the debt on him, Boss who he had to work for, leaving behind his dreams, the organisations of the society who refused to give him loan because of his lack of credentials. He was full of life and had a positive outlook towards his future before society trampled it down.

So, we see the outside forces physically beat him down because he sees the world as his hell.

Then we have Joke, who is his own biggest enemy. His wish had always been to not be a burden on his loved ones because that's how he sees himself, a burden, a good for nothing fellow. Someone who always brings bad luck with him wherever he goes. Someone who would never think twice about his own life if any of his loved ones are in danger because he does not value his own life.

He does not need anyone to tell him that he did wrong! He feels guilty as is. He punches himself, berates himself for having hope that things would be different this time. All because he is his own hell.

Going to add Joke to my collection of rich Thai boys who off of a single interaction with a man becomes irrevocably obsessed and makes being obsessed with said man his whole personality. As evidence, I present giving up his life of crime, going to prison, and spending five years in prison obsessing over how he can make up for his crimes to Jack and Jack alone. He’s now doing one last job for Jack’s freedom.

Jack and Joker fic excursion

So, I dipped my toes into the Jack and Joker fandom and wrote two fics. One about their first meeting at the bar (Double Lift, rated Teens and up for alcohol) and the other one set after the show ends but before the special ep. (Breaking Point, rated explicit for hands on sex, because that's just what they do lol). Don't read if you haven't watched all of the show, though, as it contains spoilers.

If you haven't watched it yet, please do. It's very silly but also very good and features some of the best acting I have ever seen in Thai BL. Also, the couple dynamic is *chef's kiss*.

Watched the final 3 eps of Jack & Joker on a plane. Did War make me cry on the plane? Yes, I'm a sap. Did the male flight attendant see what I was watching and give me a thumbs up along with some tissues? Also yes. I was on Thai Airlines so he may well know half the cast...

Honestly? Despite some plotting issues, and a lack of payoff with Tattoo and Arun (not even one peck of a kiss? c'mon boys) I really enjoyed this. I liked that that it felt an authentic look at a group of people we don't usually see, and was set in a realistically portrayed poor area and while I really hope that characters like the Four Horsemen don't exist I fear they do. I know ones like Boss and Carbon do for sure.

The romance was there and wonderfully played by YinWar (those boys have chemistry) and it was both the main plot for BL fans and an ancillary to the main plot for others. We may not have had that many smoochies and sexytimes but what we got was

Passion and desire (plus some humour because smiling kissing/sex is just yum). Just a shame we didn't get more of War's half nekkid body - amazing what working a pottery wheel can do for your arms. And abs. Actually you could see that both him and Yin had worked hard on the fight sequences, they looked great.

The production levels were high as well - just the fact that it was properly scored put it leagues above shows from GMMtv who, let's face it, could afford to do things properly if they wanted. Given that it was funded by War and Yin I really hope it makes its budget back and more.

Finally shout outs to grandma (I'm pretty sure I couldn't do that fighting stance) and the actor who played Toi Ting who was a little gem.

Did it all make sense? No. Did I enjoy the hell out of it anyway? Yes.

See, I intended to make like 5 or so icons to celebrate Jack & Joker and prepare for the finale tomorrow... That was NOT what happened.

That being said, here are the icons I made. Keep in mind that I've been stressed as fuck from writing and preparing my Master's Thesis, okay? Don't be too harsh on me.
