About your post w/not using slang for Karkat. "Hick surfer" is the term I use to describe my alpha Dave's accent when he's stressed, so now I am both feeling validated that, that is actually a thing that happens, and curious is we have perhaps rped together before.
LOL. It does indeed exist. My accent is hidden most of the time, unless I’m lazy, tired, or emotional. But I’ve been told it’s hilarious to hear very SoCal slang with a heavy southern twang.
