A few miscellaneous sketches:

Kai and Nya as kids in their parents' memorial. There was never a burial because their bodies were never found but judging by the destruction and uh, let’s say blood where they disappeared strongly suggests they were killed and taken by a powerful wild beast. In this memorial Kai and Nya's uncle (who would be taking care of them for a couple of years) gave them their parents' evolutionary stones that then evolved them into Vaporeon and Flareon (he didn't know the stones would do that since they had already evolved Maya and Ray). Kai still wears his stone as a necklace, and Nya has hers as an ear piercing.

Some concept sketches of Once Bitten, Twice Shy, and how jolteon!Jay would look with snake features. At least he would have a tail once more! :D

I started reading Naruto in hopes to learn from it, how the artist draws dynamic poses and such, but this ended up being the only pose I referenced from it bc I get sucked into the story of a comic too easily and forgot I was supposed to study the poses and stuff. So ye Cole in a cool Naruto pose. I probably messed up the legs.

Young Morro right after the Golden Weapons rejected him. I believe this scene was in the show too.

I found these first character sheets I did of the ninja! I had a Nya too but she wasn’t in the same place with these, so idk where she is :(

I haven’t posted these before because I was ashamed of all the bad anatomy and whatnot... but now I look at these and think they are actually pretty good! So I thought you might like these old relics, some of the first concept and character art for Pokéninjago :D

Sorry the “watermarks” look pretty messy. I just wrote my logo or whatever on pieces of scrap paper and scattered them around arfhjf... I forgot to put them on Lloyd’s sheets tho.. Do NoT SteAL!! >>8((

Another prompt thing from @cjwildstyle that I never posted was Jay in a suit. I'll accept now that I'll never get to colouring this so here. Have a Jay in a suit ✨

I drew these for a drawing prompt thing once. @cjwildstyle asked for child Jay, and I drew him in his Eevee form, and as a bit older child after evolving into Jolteon! I don’t remember how old he was when he evolved, but that’s somewhere in his character info on this blog supposedly. Anyway, a young school boy Jay with his backbag, off for his first days in school!

CJ also asked for a couple of other prompt things, and I drew Jay in a suit for one of them, and I’m p proud of it tbh, but I don’t have it at hand atm. I didn’t get to the other prompts so I never posted these that I finished `:D

This is the last art for a while now, unless I find something else.. When I’ll get my hands on my other sketch books there should be more again, but I have no idea when I get them. Same for my arms healing: no idea when I’ll be able to draw, but my arms have been feeling a bit better again lately so that’s nice <3

Here’s some colour tests I did to see which of my coloured pencils I should use if I drew the ninja and coloured them traditionally. I never did draw full pieces of the ninja traditionally though, because it turned out all the browns I had were crap and didn’t look good on Cole (or i just couldn’t use them right. the pencils were really hard to blend anyway) and I lost my interest in coloured pencils overall since digital colouring is so much easier and more fun.

I had decided pretty early on that Kai’s head fur would have a gradient from yellow to orange to brown, since he has brown hair in the show, but brown fur against flareon’s red didn’t look too great in my mind. I wasn’t sure if he was dying his hair brown and the yellow was like the natural hair growing from the root, but I thought it’d be fun if his tail and chest fur also had a gradient. So either he dyes those too (which would kinda express his slight vanity, heh) or it’s his natural fur colour. Which would be fun too. Was also trying to decide if he’d have green or yellow eyes, and I honestly don’t remember which one I picked `:D   Maybe green bc it goes well with his coat and matches the foreshadow of him being the Green Ninja even if he never turned out to be that y’know?

Jay’s yellows look super muddy but that’s completely because of the bad photo.

But sometimes.. Sometimes you just have to make sacrafices and use dramatic camera angles to keep the comic dynamic.
