HIDEAWAY CAFE

Miami artist Jose Mertz and his sister grew up making up an imaginary alternate world alongside the “immersive worlds and engaging characters” of Jim Henson’s television shows. Known today for his experimental imagery Mertz says he draws on inspiration from “ancient civilizations, science fiction, Eastern philosophy, dreams, myth, and the supernatural.” For the 2017 Shine Festival in St. Petersburg, Florida Mertz shared a little insight into his love of the mystical and mythological with this wall for the Hideaway Cafe at Central Ave and 18th St S.  @josemertz  @shineonstpete  @hideawaycafe
