Since he can breathe water, he likes to go for a swim in the ocean and just float like this for an hour or two when hes feeling overwhelmed.

Since I am no longer playing the ttrpg campaigns I was in, I am deciding what to do with my OCs. They had some good story potential!

Savos, I'm not sure yet. Too many feelings.

Joseph, though, he had a tragic event in his past and is based around one of my favourite themes and settings : the sea.

After his time in the city, he has decided to return to his life on the ocean. He has a mystery to solve, and possibly a new crew to join or a new ship to Captain. His travels may also see him finding a lighthouse to set up in, a good place to research and search in general for answers.

What inspired Joseph’s creation? What vibes does he give off to people who meet him for the first time?

I thought up Joseph for a modern(ish) day ttrpg I was playing. I thought of him specifically because I love ocean things! I used to go fishing fairly regularly in my childhood, going with my grandparents in their little fishing boat. It was a special time to me and I was just as curious about the sea life as I was about actually fishing. I recall scooping a cup of sea water from over the side and catching little jellyfish to watch for a time before releasing them. Currently I enjoy beach combing on weekends. Etc . He was also inspired by media like The Lighthouse, and reading The Southern Reach Trilogy (there is a wonderful lighthouse keeper in there 💚) So I made Joseph to roll around in nautical thoughts hehe

As for what vibe people may get from him? 🤔

He's fairly quiet and unassuming. An old fellow you may see enjoying a pint in a dimly lit old pub; the type who probably has a ton of old sea stories to tell but you aren't sure if you should bother him. Spoiler: bother him. He's quiet but he's also lonely and is likely feeling just as shy about wanting to talk to someone!

Yes he is single 😆

He loves tea! I imagine he has this one old mug he always uses for his tea... Chipped but still perfectly usable, stained but clean. Has some cheesy saying on it like "I love the sea!" A proud moment for him could be when he saves up to buy his own boat. Or possibly snagging his first official fishing position on a crew.

Deepest regret well, I'll have to flesh that out somewhat. But he did lose someone close to him...

What originally drew Joseph to the sea? Also does he know a lot of shanties? Which one is his favorite?

I will have to think more on what initially drew him to the sea..but I feel curiosity, a need to travel, perhaps it's just in his blood.
