Watching The Elephant man, even though this is mostly fictional and I would love to one day see a new, more factual and detailed movie or series about Joseph Merrick I will forever love this wonderful movie ❤️ the soundtrack and story it self is a very special one. “People are frightened by what they don’t understand” ❤️ I used to watch this daily when my Merrick obsession began many years ago…If I could go back in time to meet anyone it would be him. From research he seemed such a gentle but strong, independent soul, who loved life and company 🙏🏻

And today I found this lovely audiobook, A Taste for Monsters. It’s about a disfigured woman who becomes a maid to the elephant man. It’s got paranormal elements and Jack the Ripper is around too! I’ve finished half of it after one day and it’s super sweet so far!💖

I will forever be obsessed with my visit to this medical museum in London back in 2018. I specifically came to this little museum because it showcases Joseph Merrick.

It was just me, my reluctanty-tagging-along-to-avoid-my-parents sister, and the one museum staff person (in period-appropriate attire) in the building. I do appreciate that the one staff person didn't even bat an eye at me flipping off the portrait of Frederick Treves.

I'm not gonna post my picture of the cast of Merrick's skeleton bc I know from his writings that he wouldn't want that kind of exposure. But he did work hard on that model of the nearby church, so that should be displayed! And he signed off all of his letters with that quote from Isaac Watts.
