-to go and get your hands dirty?

Barry crouches over his body, where it lies in the aftermath of too-close combat, dead alongside his fallen killer. He tugs the ribbon from his wrist and ties it across his shadowy left hand, then scoops the Light up. With his right hand, he grabs his dagger, and then he’s off.
He clutches the Light of Creation as he runs, chest aching as though it contained lungs. Yet at the same time, he’s sure he could run forever, holding the tool that built the world. He wants to use it so bad, to tear a hole in the fabric of this city and grab his loved ones and go home.
His form is composed entirely of his soul and magic, now. It’s harder to resist the Light without that barrier of flesh and bone between it and his thoughts. He really needs to reach the Isles.
The Hunger makes it difficult, as he zags between columns slamming down and slashes through monsters. It keeps increasing its forces, but he was already close-- and once he reaches the path up towards the sky, he knows he’s going to make it. He throws the next wave back with a blast of lightning, his capacity for spells returning slowly.
The second he feels light enough to fly, he jumps. Lucretia’s easy to find, even without a spell to divine her location. The hordes of dark things, whether winged or shooting at him from the ground, increases more and more as he approaches. Thank the gods she’s the one with the Abjuration specialty, huh?
“Lucretia!” He shouts when he comes in range, and echoes his voice with a Message to be sure he’s heard. “Are you ready?”
“Trade you.” He dives forward to thrust the Light into her hands before he can think of one more way to try and rebuild the Starblaster out of scraps. Then in exchange, he throws a ring of lightning around them like a fence, so she can focus on the new spell instead of self defense.
“I’ll keep ‘em back so you can get a clear shot. Tell me what else you need!”
