Visitors to the Mistwood’s new ski slope might be treated to a strange sight today.
Trekking uphill through the deep snow is a gray wolf the size of a house. Despite her tremendous size, it might have be hard to see her due to the snowy color of her coat were it not for a group of children dressed in colorful clothing trailing after her.
The kids jump from pawprint to pawprint, following after the wolf like ducklings might follow their mother. When the strange group reaches the top of the hill the great wolf lies down and the children surround her, some even being so bold as to climb on top of her. The human adults and the wolf eye each other suspiciously, but the wolf treats the children gently, as pups of any species have never harmed her.
Lying on her side, she slides down the slope back first, the children clinging to her and whooping with joy. The snow soothes the she-wolf’s heavily scarred legs. Judging by the depth of the trenches going up and down the hill, this is not the first time she’s done this.
The mercenary wasn’t exactly fond of the snow but, quite frankly, walking the Mistwood to see the sights did bring her some fond joy. She hadn’t really noticed the massive wolf at first, having seen the children from afar, but now that she was close enough to see, she was reasonably wary.
Once the she-wolf had slid down the hill for the unknownth time, Red dared to approach, naturally curious about the seemingly tame creature.
That didn’t make Red’s own appearance from within the trees any less odd, though. A mass of black and red.
