She watches where he goes very intently. She wanted to make sure she remembered the route to this place should there be a need for her to come by her lonesome. “Does this city affect magic?”
Come to think of it, she didn’t exactly feel like herself ever since she came to this world. She had attempted a few cantrips upon her arrival, but it was to no avail.
She wasn’t sure if she should give him her hand or not, but surely as a wizard he would have access to magic that she would not. Some extra insight would be wonderful. And so she holds out her lightly bandaged hand out.
“I hope you do not mind the bandages! It is nicer to have the protection in the woods… tree bark can be quite rough when I try to climb them sometimes.” In truth she used them to cover some painful reminders of home, but it didn’t seem to matter as much in the moment.
“Yeah, it-- You usually get your magic limited for a while when you arrive,” Barry says, surprised that she wouldn’t be aware. But then, if she doesn’t know how hers works, he supposes it makes sense that she wouldn’t necessarily know if it had changed.
“And-- far as I can tell, you can’t learn to cast spells you couldn’t cast back home. You can still learn about them, though!” He gestures widely at the many library shelves of magic tomes all around them.
“‘Course that’s fine. You like climbing?” He keeps his hand steady and flat for hers to rest on, wand held in the other, and starts casting.
A minute later, he’s got all the results he’s going to get, and they’re... well, not very indicative of any curses. “Thank you,” he says as he withdraws his hand.
“Okay, so, uh. You don’t have any curses that I can detect, which doesn’t mean you’re definitely not cursed, but it rules out, uh, there being an active spell on you, or you carrying some cursed amulet. What I did find,” he continues, gesturing towards her now, “is that you’ve got wild magic on you, which has famously chaotic side effects. And if you-- If it’s been happening a long time, then my personal guess would be that you’re some kinda wild magic sorcerer."
