The first time he had found Jack frost asleep he had been out searching for new colour and design inspirations. Aster was traveling though one of his lesser used tunnels to Burgess when he felt and smelt the tall tail signs of ice and snow. Slowing his pace the Pooka made his way towards the source, sure the teen was up to mischief. However what he found instead was Jack asleep on a small pile of snow with little flurries drifting about him. Instantly the ire the warrior had felt brewing transformed into a stronger urge to draw instead. Quickly pulling out his pens and pad from his bandoleer Aster sat and drew. For hours he poured over his pad, quickly filing the pages with sweeping lines, forms and swirls in splashes of icy colours. He had been so swept up in his inspiration that he had nearly been caught when Jack had begun to stir. Swiftly Aster gathered his belongings and dashed off before the teen was ever the wiser.
The second time Aster had come across the sleeping boy it had been at North’s Workshop. Ever since the teen’s Guardianship they had all made it a point to meet up more regularly. That day they had all decided on a bit of playful sparring and for the first time Jack got to see how graceful and skilled Tooth was with her dual swords. The competition had been fierce but fun wearing the guardians out in the end, some more then others. When Jack had wandered off it was Bunny tasked with finding him, which he did with a grumble. Dodging around a gaggle of the Cossack’s always underfoot elves, Aster easily tracked Jack’s scent down one of the workshop’s quieter halls. Curled up tightly in a ball a sleep in a darkened bay window was the frost spirit, flurries once again fluttering about him. Quietly Aster walked over towards the teen, a soft smile tugging at his muzzle. Gently and only with slight hesitation, the Pooka reached out and brushed a few fallen locks from the Jack’s face causing the teen to curl closer. Heart racing Aster froze for a moment, waiting breathlessly for Jack to settle. Once the teen had Bunny only lingered a moment longer unaware of his silent spectator.
The third time Aster found Jack sleeping it was once again in one of his old tunnels. Only this time Jack was caught in the midst of a nightmare. without even a thought or hesitation Aster was by the teen’s side, a paw running through his hair soothingly. Instantly Jack’s thrashing ebbed away as he curled closer to the lagomorph’s warmth. Shaking his head Aster gently curled around Jack, keeping watch as the spirit settled into a more peaceful sleep while soft flurries began to fall about them. It was sometime later when the pair woke up together surrounded by soft snow and a circle of gentle little Snowdrops. After that it was hard for either to deny that things between them had began to change.
