do you have any hcs about eric kirby ? :3
POG....... my hc's are that he's so epic. Ok so obviously surviving on Isla Sorna alone for 8 weeks is, hard on a kid. But he wouldn't have been taken along on a trip to Los Cinco Muertes if he wasn't a big Jurassic Park theorist. But he did see Ben die, probably during the crash. That's horrifying. And imagine not even being able to get him down from the tree because you're like 12 !!! A swarm of compies chased him away from that place after a while of just catching his breath and figuring out what to do. He probably made his way around the island quite a bit, looking for old iNGen stations like the ones Malcolm used to hail a rescue!! But that included dodging raptors, cranky ankys, and even avoiding the detection of the spino. I think after the first couple weeks, he probably worried that his parents wouldn't even come for him.
The way he reacted to finding Alan was less like a fanboy and more like.. Meeting the author of your history textbook when ur into history SKBDKS but in all honesty I hc that he wasn't happy to see his parents attempting to rekindle their relationship (they got divorced for a reason, right) as a result of his dinosaur trauma.. which, let's be honest I also think he would have a lot of nightmares about what happened on the island. He would probably approach it as just being something that happened, like any of the Jurassic incidents you read about, but it affected him more than he would like to admit. He also stayed in contact with Alan and Billy (closer with Billy of course..) !! They both helped him with getting into schools and museum jobs. Eric seems like he'd be into photography as a hobby...
Later when Jurassic World opened, Eric was on top of reading every article and researching every part of it. His theory was that it would blow up in everyone's faces again someday, but he was always too scared to go there himself. Post FK when dinosaurs became everyone's problem ?? He was probably like "ok, this shit again." But y'know.. you take it like you take everything else, one step at a time. Maybe he had another encounter with some peaceful dinosaurs that reminded him things might be okay. I like to think he and the other kids from the original 3 movies would at some point get in contact with each other and talk about that stuff?? And lastly he's got adhd and/or ocd? and is trans+bi and has some trauma derived psychosis... sorry this was a lot but wooh , I love JP/// SKDJKS

ICYMI: Land of the Lost World: Trailer Mashup
For an editing assignment, we had to combine two movies and create a trailer for that. While mine isn’t much of a mashup, I still feel it’s a fun romp through Land of the Lost and the Jurassic Park series.
A friend and I did this freeform discussion about whatever the hell popped into our heads. Topics include Howard the Duck, Jurassic Park III, and Garbage Pail Kids. You might enjoy it. This is part 1. More parts should be coming soon!
Reasons Jurassic Park III is a deeply cynical movie
I enjoy JP3 as much as one can, but this list has been sitting in my head for a long time. It's a work in progress. The movie is a cynical response to everything we loved about the original. It's literally the Alien 3 of the Jurassic Park franchise.
Alan Grant/Paleontology is reduced to struggling for funding, and irrelevancy
Alan and Ellie don’t end up together, and Alan just seems uncomfortable all around
a little kid makes fun of/is dismissive of Malcolm whom we admire and respect
The kewl Spinosaurus dinosaur kills the hero of the first film, the T-Rex
the movie’s ‘theme’ is that good intentions always go awry and somebody’s gonna get eaten
people see dinosaurs and don’t give a shit
the hero is literally kidnapped and forced to relive their trauma
They intercut imagery of Barney the Dinosaur and a terrifying dinosaur attack, like how am I supposed to feel?
If you have anything else to add, shout it out!
