I STARTED JUMPING UP AND DOWN WHEN THE DREAD QUEEN SHOWED UP SHES SO COOL I AM HER NUMBER ONE FAN. I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS FOR SO LONG AND ITS SO AWESOME. I LOVE HER SOFT BRITISH VOICE AND HER HEELED BOOTS AND HER MYSTERIOUS VEIL SHES SO COOL. ALSO SHES DEATH???? JUST STRAIGHT UP DEATH HERSELF
I would be her champion or join her army or whatever 100% don't need to ask me twice
I think there are some problems with how jays amputation is handled. I think that is perfectly valid, and i have my thoughts on why it went like it did, but I am also not disabled, and I think most of you can come to those same conclusions (EX:immediate panic when jay woke up). not my place to say anything about that or whether any of those are worthy explanations.
what I can discuss semi-confidently is whether or not the treatment of Jays character is misogyny from my perspective. I encourage everyone who reads this to NOT take my word as gospel. I again only mean this to share my interpretation for why jays character is appearing as it is. I genuinely want to hear other peoples perspectives as long as they are shared respectfully, as I am not perfect and can forget things.
firstly, I want to talk about something that I'm not sure is true or not, which is that originally jay was supposed to be the one to meet the dread queen, and that it was instead given to chip. if this is true I can see why the first instinct would be to think of it as a man stealing a cool plot point from a woman, that being said, my assumption is also that this would've been the case had jay given up her arm and her leg to captain widow, and from what I remembered of that whole arc. I can't remember Jays' specific response to this, but if chip got the dread queens powers it's because he refused to let someone use Jay like that. on top of that, at the time jay was already having visions of the sun. I don't see any use for Jay's character arc in adding the dread queen in there.
Second, I think that a lot of the lack of focus on jay at this moment isn't on Charlie, Milo, or Bizly. Condi is intentionally choosing to have jay only express her incredibly harmful health in a joking manor, if at all. considering the fact that chip does similar things and the fact that it has problem been at most 3 days since episode 116/118, and a lot of these are filmed in huge sitting with each other. on top of that, I'm a bit happy that Condi is waiting for the jay stuff. Imagine at this point in time that we get a huge jay scene, and then have to go back to uncovered Odelith something that jay has no real connection to outside of Gillian. When instead Jay could have a massive crashout after she sees the navy again.
On top of this I'd say the character getting the second amount of focus in these episodes is Aurora. which is done intentionally, she is the newest pc ensuring she has her time to shine is crucial. I whole heartedly think at this moment that Condi is intentionally taking a step back and the other players are letting him do that, chips speech at the end of 124 is meant to be in reference to both jay and aurora as well. if we are ten episodes later and nothing has happened with jay ill fukcing come back here and talk about wasted potential, because I think that is what Condi is doing, he wants the stuff going on with jay to be resolved well and right now it can be resolved but not as great as it can be.
TLDR: let condi cook with jay, he played a long con for 50+ episodes before.
in one of the rolleds condi talked about wanting jay losing her leg to have an actual effect on her character/not want it to be brushed away with a perfect prosthetic that looks and acts exactly like her leg did so I have some faith that the reason they're ignoring her stuff with her leg is because they want to put a pause on that plotline until shes out of the undersea and they can focus on getting her a prosthetic. that being said I DO wish the actual "cutting off her leg part" was taken a bit more seriously in the moment lmao. jay should be allowed to shoot anyone she wants for that shit
I dont have patreon but i did read the 125 spoilers because i wanted to know the situation about jays leg, and dear god. I have no place to speak compared to a disabled person as an abled person, but even so i felt extremelly uncorfortable with what happend to jay in 125 and how she was left alone to deal with it out. I know we show wait til ep 126 to see if they adress the issue but i feel like we should already tell the jrwi team how we felt about it just to be sure cuz wtf
I seriously need jay to have a monumental crash out on everyone I get that this is gillions whole angst arc and there's meant to be a lot of focus on him but jay just went through quite literally the worst few weeks of her entire life and apparently no one cares ? Chip and gillion please get your act together
