HEADCANON: Ju-Long is acutely aware that all his relationships are superficial, and its very purposeful. He doesn’t want to let people get close to him in any sense of the manner, because of the deep seeded (and valid) fear he has of seriously injuring them when his mind has its switch flipped. So he fills the intense, deep desire for intimacy, the craving for affection with surface, temporary interactions. Knowing full well that its all he really should have, using the excuse its to protect the other person in an attempt to accept his self-given fate of being alone.

Hua’s father, Ju-Long, was the appointed head guard/ ninja for the Chen clan under Quan’s father’s rule. The hair clasp was a gift from Quan’s father as they were rather close friends. Little Hua always looked up to his adoptive father.
