Here the small deciduous tree species Cercis siliquastrum (Judas tree) is being used to add interest as a multi stemmed plant to a large garden and as a standard specimen in the urban environment. The rounded leaves appear after the flowers and in the winter there may be a display of pods.

The small, deciduous tree Cercis siliquastrum (Judas tree) is a native of Southern Europe and Western Asia. The species has pink flowers but I am very fond of of the white flowered form Cercis siliquastrum f. albida (Judas tree white-form). The clusters of pure white, pea-like flowers are produced before and with the leaves, often directly from the branches or trunk (cauliflory).
