For the finale.
Pausing my OneChicago watching to catch up with S5 of The Good Fight (finally on this side of the Pond!!!). I wasn’t much into the format of the first episode first but ended up loving it. Such a genius choice!
- My McHart shipper heart! How could I forget how awesome these two are, with the added cuteness of living together during lockdown? Honey bear! She called him honey bear! *dies* The care he had for her when the news of RBG broke. The hilarity of election night and the whole champagne ritual. I know I will suffer this season but let me cherish this blissful moment.
- The talent and the beauty of Audra McDonald.
- The sadness of Lucca saying goodbye to Marissa and Jay over Zoom (dot com!). I will miss this wonderful trio so freakin’ much.
- The sweet and hug-worthy friendship between Diane and Adrian.
- Julius out of jail!
- The genius of having the credit titles at the end. With the cute animals!!!

Non-spoiler-free recap and review of episode one of CBS' THE GOOD FIGHT (2017-) season five.
no no I hate everything about this julius trial. david cord, who funds the court, is arguing a case? this random dude is making up stuff about julius? they want to hold him without bail? just make him hang out in prison to be sure he'll come back? that's exactly the kind of horrendous thing real courts do that wackner should be getting rid of, which I understand is on purpose to show him veering toward the status quo, but it's important to remember that that is evil!! and just the fact that they're forcing him to be here? at least knockoff louis ck came voluntarily. the reason given for the cops to bring him to wackner's court is flimsy, but I'm completely willing to believe cops breaking the law over a grudge and that borrowed state authority being enough to make wackner's court mandatory. and I get that the legitimacy of wackner's court is very important to him and that could conceivably be expressed in the form of stuff like parking spaces, and I can follow how julius gets stuck in this loop where everything is nonsense but he can't get outside this setting to a place of sense. but like...I'm just really stuck on the street. what made wackner decide he had authority over the street, which belongs to the public? painting a line and declaring it true? very much the style of the show but I need more than how much wackner cares about his own/his court's legitimacy to make me believe that.
No matter how tempting an alternate (and seemingly better) reality may seem. What we have now should be our focus.

(Hopefully by this point you’ve finished all episodes of ‘The Good Fight’ until the season 4 opener, the kind of person who isn’t bothered by spoilers, or are just deciding if you still want to keep watching.)
