SAEBYEOK can't seem to keep her feelings from you any longer.
UNDER THE BRIGHT gleaming stars that shone above, you sat peacefully on the rooftop. saebyeok and your breathing were rhythmic as each exhale created the soft puff of fog that portrayed the apparent cold. you shivered, and so did she—but still felt a feeling of warmth from sitting side by side.
"why did you drag me up here again?" she muttered to you while still picking at her fingers. you chuckled softly, "something called stargazing. it's calming, y'know?"
having a confused look on her face and furrowed brows, she turned her head slowly. "ever heard of light pollution?"
"light pollution sucks." you began, "but you can still see some of the stars, look!" you exclaimed and pointed to a few stars that you could see faintly. saebyeok moved her head forwards and squinted to try and see it. "—and the north star!"
while you can hear her hum, she keeps her gaze on the sky, trying to see any faint fragments left by the light pollution which covered the city.
"you kinda remind me of the moon," you say to her after a longing silence, grabbing saebyeok's attention as she kept stoic. it was a sudden comment, maybe too sudden.
"is that supposed to be a good thing?" she asked, and you couldn't help but let out a laugh.
"yes, of course, it is." you reply in a playful but mocking manner and you could see a soft smile tug upon her lips too. but when she looked back down to the ground, it faded.
swallowing, she thought for a moment. she didn't know what to do. over the past few months, she has noticed she has developed feelings for you, and not just little ones—big ones. her heart pounded whenever she saw you. you made saebyeok feel like her heart was going to explode by being so excited or enthusiastic about the little things—the stars, the moon, sitting outside during a cold day, and always turning the worst of days—into the days where it felt that just the sun was shining.
"sae?" you tap her shoulder rapidly, "sae!"
within moments, the girl snapped out of her reverie, her heart pounding once again.
"are you okay? we can go inside if you want—" you faltered, though she just simply shakes her head.
"no. i'm fine." she reassured, "i was just thinking."
you tilt your head and lean forward to get a glimpse of her face. "oh—?"
"what were you thinkin' bout?"
she swallowed again, and couldn't seem to keep eye contact. "you." saebyeok muttered.
"me?" you ask. you two were together, sitting on the rooftop under the stars. why wouldn't she be thinking of you?—weren't you right beside her?
smiling, you said, "i'm thinking of you too." but saebyeok shook her head once before continuing, knowing you weren't quite understanding what she meant.
"no—not like that, i mean—" she paused, and you waited patiently, looking at her attentively. you didn't want to make her feel rushed when talking to you as she never opens up often. "—i think about you all the time. not just right now, and not just because we're sitting together."
she continued to look down, with her head low—hoping, just hoping that made something clear and still with no response, she sighed softly.
"i like you. not like i like you, it's more like—i like like you, like uh—" she fumbled as she felt her cheeks burning in embarrassment while resting her finger on the sides of her forehead. it was no longer cold outside. how dare you make this happen to her!
the change in her demeanor made you laugh as she raised her head and saw you suddenly had the biggest smile on your face, now gazing into her eyes—a gaze saebyeok soon met.
you had always smiled at her, when she walked in a room, when she had finally opened up to you after a few weeks, and even when she was just being her normal quiet self. but this smile seemed.. different.
she thought your eyes were the most beautiful color of (Y/E/C). while she listened to your talks and was a great listener, as she would stare attentively at you—except for when she would get lost looking into them.
your eyes were filled with a sort of admiration she'd never seen before; a loving admiration. you had always admired her, as a friend. why was it different now?
when you're someone's friend, of course you love them, but it's not love love, it's a different kind of love. the love that you will always support and be there for them, while enjoying spending time together and trusting each other. of course love love was all of those things too, but there was something more. love love is the sort of love that makes you want to spend your whole life with just that one person.
she always thought of you as a bubbly and happy person, you smiled pretty much every day but had been so confused why that exact same smile she saw almost everyday—made her feel different than before.
you made her stomach hurt and her heart flutter with an admiration she'd never thought she'd have for a person. the girl was just overcome with happiness when she saw you, from when she first met you in the park, to the present moment—it was like a shooting star. seeming to go by fast, time went by fast—but from a distance on earth, it fell slowly across the night sky, like how her feelings developed into a big feeling over time. it's light slowly got brighter and brighter as time went on.
and to you, she felt like the moon.
the sun and moon are both totally different but have similar traits. sunlight is blinding, and you can't bear to look at it. it hurts your eyes and your head and it gives light to the world, which you can be grateful for, as well as the moon. although the moon does not have the same power as the sun, it shines the world nonetheless. it's less powerful but does little—which is always enough, saebyeok was always enough, while not standing out as others do.
those others are like the sun. you liked the sun—not always, but liked. it's like being close to someone or not knowing them at all—but knowing deep down, you have a caring towards them, still not as much as the moon.
you being an awfully caring person would step out of the way to be kind to anyone, and would step out of the way for saebyeok the most.
the moon stood out among everything else, only the little stars at night, when the sun hides away and in the day—if you look closely, you can see the faded shape of the moon up in the night sky. it stood out without trying, and that's what you loved about it the most—what you loved about her the most. looking at the moon didn't irritate you, it just shone the little bright light it always did which was enough to amaze you whenever, saebyeok was just being how she always was—herself, and it was always enough to amaze you whenever.
as saebyeok switched her gaze which seemed to have dragged to the sky—lit brightly by the full moon, back to your face, you had still kept that same smile. it was like you had just seen the most amazing thing in the world. that 'most amazing thing' in the world was her.
you scooted forward hesitantly and saebyeok seemed to notice the movement and stared into your glistening eyes. awfully close together, you could feel her warm but shaky breath fan against your frigid face.
saebyeok never was the type to like romance or hugging—only little of the time, though at this moment she wanted to show you how much you meant to her. she wanted to express all the thoughts and feelings that were screaming inside her brain just aching to get out in these past few months.
"is it okay if i—" you hesitated, now lips inches apart. the other girl nodded but shivered from the cold, her heart beating fast. there was no response. why were you so nervous all of a sudden?
she still didn't feel the feeling of your lips touching hers, so taking matters into her own hands, she cupped the side of your face and pulled your frigid form slightly towards her as her lips touched yours softly.
familiar with her cold personality, you were surprised she was so gentle.
when your lips touched hers temporarily in everlasting bliss, time no longer held its grasp and the cold was forgotten even with her ice-cold hand gliding softly across the bottom of your cheek. through the night sky above you filled with the stars and bright full moon, formed the melody of a newfound care and love.
slowly, both of you pulled away and looked into each other's eyes. you smiled, and so did she—having the biggest grin on her face that you think you'd ever seen her have.
"i hope that means you like me too."
ive never written a kissing
scene before, so hopefully
