disrespectful  girl   ------   see  how  she  walks  through  this  jungle  as  though  she  owns  it ?   not  a  trace  of  fear  edges  her  awestruck  visage.   this  is  no  place  for  a  child  and  in  all  fairness,   she’s  not  meant  to  be  here.   her  stepfather  didn’t  want  to  bring   “  that  cocky  little  bitch  ”   along  on  vacation  but  her  mother  hissed  about  “  don’t  be  such  a  tightarse,   we  can’t  leave  her  on  her  own  two  weeks,   child  protective  services  will  come  sniffing,   you  mark  my  goddamn  words !  ”  suffice  to  say,   cassandra  won  that  particular  argument.   steve  put  his  tail  between  his  legs  and  sullenly  booked  olivia  on  too   ------   warning  her  privately  that  she'd  stay  out  of  their  way  as  much  as  possible  if  she  knew  what  was  good  for  her.   

so  she  does !   not  because  she’s  afraid  of  him,   or  anything   ------   olivia  simply  isn’t  interested  in  trailing  after  her  parents  like  a  lost  puppy.   holidays  are  meant  to  be  fun  so  the  less  she  sees  that  prick,   the  better  it’ll  turn  out  for  her.   the  day’s  played  away,   with  her  tiring  of  the  beach  and  disappearing  into  the  treeline,   gray  brown  eyes  like  saucers  as  she  takes  in  her  surroundings.   a  firm  stick  is  claimed  from  the  earthy  ground  and  her  adventure  begins.   her  parents  don’t  cross  her  mind  again  until  night  falls,   and  she  realizes  they  might  have  noticed  she’s  missing  by  now.

well,   maybe;   who’s  to  say ?    they’re  the  furthest  thing  from  doting  and  thoroughly  self  absorbed  to  boot.   olivia  scowls  in  spite  of  herself.   man,   she  could  stay  lost  in  this  place  until  the  vacation’s  end  and  only  then  would  they  give  half  a  toss...   still.   she  should  try  and  get  back  to  them.   definitely  can’t  sleep  here !   all  these  animals  wandering  around   ------   the  kid  hasn’t  bothered  them  and  they’ve  mostly  left  her  to  it,   but  it’s  still  not  a  risk  she  wants  to  take.
