yesterday was Bobby ”Blue” Bland’s birthday. Dropping out of 3rd grade to work in a cotton field, working as driver for #BBKing and #JuniorParker, Mr Bland went on to record his rich baritone for #Chess, #Modern, #SunRecords & a phenomenal run on #Duke (some with the brilliant #PatHare on guitar). He recorded well into the 70s (and those #Malaco records are pretty solid) & was a huge influence on a diverse range of artists from #Otis Redding to the #GratefulDead to #JayZ.
