It makes me sad when I look at Ace Attorney fandom stuff from 10-15 years ago and see how much more comparatively chill and accepting they were of different ships from the most popular ones back then. It wasn’t perfect or free of discourse, obviously, but at least fans could mostly get away with shipping that stuff without getting called horrible people, unlike today where the Ace Attorney fandom is determined to bully anyone who dare ship the Unacceptable Stuff™️ out of the fandom (ESPECIALLY on aatwt my goodness). I know this isn’t just me because I’ve seen even certain older fans note this and say stuff like “Wow I’ve been in the Ace Attorney fandom for years and back then there used to be so many Narumayos and ppl who shipped so-and-so in het I’m so glad these are no longer acceptable we’ve come so far” WRONG. The fandom has turned into a hivemind who think it’s acceptable to unperson others over ships and will sooner sympathize with one who harasses another over a Bad Ship than the one getting harassed because how dare they ship outside the sacred stuff. You really think it’s a good thing the AA fandom environment has gotten tyrannical about what you’re allowed to ship? Old Ace Attorney Shipping Fandom was FAR from perfect, but if your reasons for why it was bad or worse than now are “ships I dislike were allowed to exist” hoooooo boy.

I just came up with probably the most chaotic love triangle that could ever make as much sense as this honestly does.

Basically, so,

I've never mentioned here on tumblr but have said numerous times elsewhere that I weirdly WISH I could ship Justicykes because the idea of Apollo's arc in Dual Destinies framed under the lens of him being in love with Athena sounds like THE JUICIEST ANGST I'VE EVER HEARD OF.

I'm especially a fan of this "Phony" AMV, which perfectly illustrates the idea of Apollo "trust issues" Justice forming such a bond with Athena that the thought of her betrayal utterly destroys him.

"Every time I find identity, it was just a dream, LIKE YOUR LOVE FOR ME!"

But for some reason, outside of that video, I just don't feel the vibes from the two of a ship I can be as feral about as I usually am over ships.

This is not at all helped by the fact that Athena is so ridiculously gay for Juniper and their ship is ridiculously cute and has ALL of the vibes.

But of course in the canon game, Juniper only ever expresses interest in Apollo, which just feels forced and completely substanceless.

So that's how I thought up the idea of a 3-way one-sided crush triangle. I cannot even begin to figure out how this would work out.

I wish there were more ace attorney fan weeks dedicated to rarepairs. Even though there probably wouldn't be a lot of people participating in them, it would still be fun. As someone who loves a lot of aa rarepairs, I would love to see some weeks dedicated to, like, feenris/phoenris, mitsumayo, claypollo, justicykes, emaya, pearlthena, junipollo, and feyquill (I ship these as qprs mostly)

Adorable girls who have crushes and are very open about them, and then have those feelings reciprocated down the line gives me such life. It's a shame they are almost always rarepairs. An exception to those pairs when the girls have crushes on vastly older men.
