there are three genders
hey ho, still playing random adventure games or games that purport to be adventure games, and today's entry's gonna be a short one.
junk jack (2011) is what happens when minecraft but 2D. wait, that's terraria, isn't it?
junk jack (2011) is what happens when terraria but it was originally on your phone.
there, that's better.
other than that, i have very little to say of this one. as much as i enjoy my little mining building sims, i've never really played minecraft, so this was kind of my little pocket introduction to the genre. and... eh, i don't care much for it to be honest.
there's definitely a bit of an addictive loop to the mining building aspects, and i like how the game provides a map to show you what you've already discovered. you can also collect little pocket companions who don't do much, but one of them can follow you around just for the fun of it. but that's about where my own personal investment ended.
you can also theoretically find objects to help you travel into other worlds, but i never made it that far into it.
now, my question here is, is this an adventure game? i would say no. as broad as the definition of adventure games are, one of their main signifiers are that there's a story. (the term itself originates from a 1976 game called 'Colossal Cave Adventure' that was one of the first of what we'd later call text adventure games.) whoever is updating these wikipedia pages: call me for a crash course in video game genres.
overall, my impression is that junk jack was best utilized as a mobile game thanks to its simplified mechanics, but then again, i don't actually have the necessary benchmarks to compare it to other games of its type.
onwards!
I know this game is probably a bit too obscure for this to actually work, but the subreddit is completely dead and the underdeveloped wiki is similarly useless.
So in the Terraria knockoff Junk Jack, there's a crafting recipe for a chemistry lab and I can't seem to get it to work. I can't figure out how to take screenshots but there seems to be an issue with the potion bottle I'm using to craft it, the bottle in the recipe doesn't have a heart in the item icon but the one I crafted does. I can't see how the two are different bottles aside from the heart?
oh god its such a sad house. so stupid looking. i’m dying. *sobbing and laughing*
Il bellissimo crafting Junk Jack è arrivato finalmente anche su Android! http://www.diggita.it/v.php?id=1592129
