Fun Junkion Religion hcs:

Junkions are polytheistic and worship a lot of gods, or at very least acknowledge the existence of many.

Love-hate god relationships are probably pretty common. Some are maybe as unquestioningly devout as I get the sense many Cybertronians tend to be, but I mean...this is Junk we're talking here

The matrix (or allspark or whatever diety macguffin is big with the Cybertonians in whatever universe this is) is an absolitrly fuckin wild concept to Junkions. You let a chaotic neutral glowing rock tell you what to do?

Worse, you let the chaotic neutral rock CHOOSE someone to tell you what to do??

Pretty sure the prerequisites for leadership on Junk are: 1) surviving thunderdome (both watching the movie and an actual thunderdome. At the same time maybe even) 2) kicking ass at pop culture trivia and 3) having a quality Aesthetique(tm)

Or maybe they vote. Who knows?

Despite their origins having some roots similar to Cybertronians, most Junkions don't worship Primus or the 13 or aknowldge the Primes or w/e at all. They drink synthetic energon, their spark and frame creation works differently than Cybertronians, and they don't live on Cybertron, hell their entire culture is just so goddamned different. Those simply are Not Their Gods

I'm definetly going with the idea that they worship Weird Al and his music, that's one development the IDWverse offered that I can mega get behind

In fact, I'm down with the idea that they worship media, of both alien and Junkion origins. Media is the Main Religion(tm) of planet Junk, only second to WeirdAll and his divine voice

Unicron, however, is part of the Junkion god pantheon bc like...duh. He'll eat anyones world. He'll eat his own world. He'll eat himself. Hes the patron god of vore and not giving much of a fuck

But yeah recognizing Unicron as Actually the Worst transcends culture and species tbh

Some do unironically worship him tho. Goths and warriors definetly wear Unicron horns and face make up. perhaps ironically, perhaps not (someone talked about this on another post which I will link when I find it lol)

Do Junkion religious leaders have stupid outfits like the ones on Cybertron? Of course they do! Why the fuck would they pass up an opportunity to have stupid outfits??

-Junkions take their media way too fucking seriously (a given)

-as the kitchen sinks is a planet-wide cultural phenomenon on Junk and they take it the most serious of all

Junkion biology/culture hcs part 2:

Most Junkions are grounders or beastformers; There are fliers on Junk, but not many.

Of the Junkion fliers, there are two main categories: very low-atmosphere speeders and higher atmosphere/orbital fliers.

Other fliers exist, but they're more often exceptions to the norm. Junk has far too harsh weather conditions and few places to take shelter above ground to cultivate any other kinds of flier populations

Speeders are, culturally, psychologically, and physologically more like grounders with some flight capability, using hovering, gliding, or flight in very short bursts to avoid ground-level hazards and predators. They tend to live underground or take shelter in discarded structures like most other Junkions and are not particularly claustrophobic

High-atmosphere/orbital fliers are more like true Cybertronian fliers, tho they lean towards shuttle characteristics. They live in very low orbit around Junk, sometimes flying into the upper atmosphere. They mostly reside in the fields of scrap that satellite the planet.

They were primarily responsible for setting up the orbital defense array to keep out outsiders and are the ones who maintain the array; theyre the first line of defense against a planet-wise attack. Theyre also often the first to intercept interplanetart communications and media

There's a kind of coalition among the different peoples of Junk, though they dont discuss the finer points with outsiders. Infighting happens, but its a lot rarer than it used to be

there's a thriving holoform hobbiest scene on Junk, including modders and LARPers and just about every absurd thing a holoform could possibly be used for. One of the biggest imports is holoform software and good references and models

Yes that means there are Junkions with humansonas and bots who probably make human/organic aus of history or some shit. Its time we all faced the truth here

Junk is inhospitable and the way of life is largely incompatible with even Cybertronian sensibilities and needs, much less any other species. There are places on Junk trying to change that, altering their underground living spaces and communal areas and constructing city structures above ground that can accommodate the needs of other species better and shield them from harsh conditions

Oh that reminds me, lets talk junkion biolights, like fuck we all know they dont have that vaporwave bladerunner mood ring shit, so heres some theories:

No lights (boring, a snooze, interesting for cultural reasons [an entire form of nonverbal communication missing from junkion vocabulary] but not fun otherwise. next)

christmas lights (none of that new shit either, it all looks like its from the 50s)

(Ok maybe a mix of old and new. Fuck me)

Glowsticks randomly adhesed all over their bodies

Neon with visible tubing that flickers and shit

glow-in-the-dark stickers

Glowing electric paint

See-through aquarium tubes things that houses a bunch of lava lamp shit all throughout their bodies

Tvsceen titties

no one knows what it is but its a dim gold and it makes them look like freaky metal jack-o-lanterns. Space magic or some shit

Or, alternatively, strategically-placed yellow-gold dim bulbs hidden around their frames that do the jack-o-lantern shit anyway

Traffic lights

An absurd amount of extra headlights just...here and there

Exposed blood energon piping

Whatever they can get their rusty servos on. Everyone has something different, lots of folks change it up constantly just like the rest of their frames

That one post a few back made me think of my Junkion biology and culture headcanons so uh I think I'm gonna go over them briefly...ish...under this jump cut lmfao (note this is kind of a blend of tfp/mtmte canon):

Junkions are a different species than cybertronians but they have similar-ish physiology

Its not always similar enough tho

A lot of Junkion and Cybertronian software and hardware just isn't compatible or requires some kind of adaptor to interact

That may or may not include the hardware youre probably thinking of. Lets just say it depends on the bot

Junkion and Cybertronian nanites are especially NOT compatible, don't even bother. Junkions have a terrifyingly agressive immune system and it doesn't play well with others

This is useful for a garbage planet but not much fun when you travel offworld. Lots of Junkions discover they have bad allergies if and when they travel

Finding a doctor or someone who does mods and actually knows how to work on Junkions if you happen to be on Cybertron is, ahem, difficult to say the least (and vise versa)

Junkions do in fact have sparks, though much like Camiens they operate on a different frequency

The origin of their sparks and other similar things are a mystery to offworlders and a closely guarded secret

They also don't generally worship Primus, and instead are more polytheistic. Their entire mythology is completely different than Cybertronians actually. Those who do worship Primus worship much differently than on Cybertron

Energon isn't particularly plentiful on Junk and theyve been chugging synthetic stuff down there for vorn. Most Junkions don't even know how big of a deal that is for Cybertronians (not that their synthetic Energon is particularly compatible with Cybertronian systems anyway)

Synthetic Energon comes in a lot of variety and flavors. Most Junkions find the stuff they drink on Cybertron pretty bland and maybe just a touch too heavy

(they can still get it down tho. Junkions can eat pm whatever tbh lmfao)

In general, what Cybertronians might see as impure and inferior Junkions tend to see as just practical and sustainable

For instance Junkions don't bury their dead, they invariably recycle the parts. There's a lot of rituals and spiritual beliefs surrounding this matter, and a lot of Junkions will their parts to loved ones. The thought of letting a corpse just rust away is extremely appalling to them

Most Junkions don't travel off-world traditionally (though that changes a bit over the millenia), but they do love off-world media

Media in general is the center of their culture and they take it very seriously

Their langauge is very idiom, metaphor, and slang-heavy, so even after translating it it can still be confusing for an outsider. Hell, even if youre fluent it can be confusing if you're talking to someone who speaks a slightly different dialect

Cybertron did try to colonize them (or recolonize them, depending on the 'verse) at some point, which is one of many reasons why Junkions can be kinda isolationist and generally don't trust or like Cybertronians

Cybertronians don't like each Junkions much either (big shocker there). On the whole Cybertronian and Junkion cultures and values are not particularly compatible

Junk as a planet has a lot of defense systems built by its occupants, a lot of it first put in place when Cybertron tried to invade them

Junkions arent generally all that big or powerful, but they're incredibly hardy. They think of Cybertronians as pretty damn fragile, and in comparison, they're not exactly wrong

Junkions have a lot of nifty tech theyve developed over the years, but it tends to be more rugged and practical in comparison to Cybertronian tech

Seeing as Cybertron and Junk aren't on good terms, there's not a lot of exporting or trading of this nifty tech, or much of anything else for that matter

Junkions dont adhere to size and frame classes even a little and there's a lot of variance in size and frame. They are built from scrap and recycled parts after all

Modding and other forms of decoration are an extremely common practice and in fact often culturally significant

Sparklings add scrap to their frames to blend better with their environment and grow familiar with future modding. Often these new parts will be given to them by family or scavenged for fun and as a rite of passage, but others aren't as fortunate and do it simply to survive

Rust may be off-putting to some Cybertronians, but to Junkions...well their planet and half the scrap theyre made from is covered in it. Its just a fact of life

Their nanites actually prefer the presence of rust. Another reason they don't take well to Cybertronian frames

Their planet doesnt have much in the way of scraplets because of this too. Plenty of other vermin, but not scraplets
