Could’ve Asked Though
Jamie Imagines
--
Pulling your light jacket around yourself better, as a chilly wind rushed past you as you walked down the street to a close Cafe. It had been a fairly long day and you wanted something sweet and warm to treat yourself with before going to a hopefully intact house. Not too many people were on the streets, which made your way to the Cafe a little quick. You were happy to walk through the door to hear the little ring of the bell, the warmth and yummy smells that came with a coffee shop.
Standing back from the counter you were looking for what you wanted, coming to a decision of a nice cup of Hot Chocolate. “Um,” you started once you stood in front of the barista, “One medium Hot Chocolate made with milk, please?” You ask for, glancing towards the barista who punches it in the computer and you pulled your wallet out of your purse.
“Will that be all?” She asked, meeting your gaze, again. You nod as she looks back towards the computer, “That’ll be two-fifty,” She said.
You pulled two dollars and fifty cents from your wallet it, handing it the used money over. She gave you a smile as she put it in the register and started on your drink. As you moved along the counter to the pickup end, you looked over towards a bulletin board that was covered in colorful paper. Though one ad stuck out that most “Kittens for Sale!”, you bit your lip as you faintly heard someone saying “Here you go.” Thanking them you grab the hot chocolate and walk closer to the ad.
You thought about getting an animal for around the house but you hadn’t bought it up with Jamie because you weren’t sure how well that would go. It wasn’t because you were afraid of him saying no but how well it would go with his crazy personality. Though seeing the flyer and that there wasn’t a crazy price for these kitties, you thought you’d drive over to where they are at. Taking a picture, carefully without spilling your drink, you left the Cafe.
Walking quickly back to your car, you wanted to get to the kitties, see if any were cute enough to come home with you. Once in the car and turning it on, you were on your way to the address while singing along to your favorite song on the radio. Happy that wasn’t too far away from the main shops incase you needed to come back for cat things.
Carefully you pulled up in front of the house, that sat a young couple outside with a little cardboard box on the porch by them. Nervously, but also happy that someone else was walking up the stairs too, you get out and walk up towards the house.
“Hello,” they both said as you start to come up the stairs. Feeling a little relaxed that they were happy and not people that just want money.
“Hello,” you say, glancing towards the box of meowing kitties.
“Just look at them and see which one, you might like to take home,” the guy said.
You nod before looking around the box, they were all so small and very fluffy looking. Getting down around the box, one sticks out a little different from the others, it was a little more adventurous and trying to escape. Which was cute to watch but also kind of sad they were trapped in a box.
Watching a little longer, you decide you really want to take this little kitty home. “Um,” you look up at the people and the guy looks at you. “Can I have this one?” You ask, looking hopeful at him.
“Sure!” He said brightly, “Alright, well, she’s all yours then,” he smiles before picking her up out of the box. “She’s had her first shots, so your all good.”
“Thank you,” you say, taking the strange pattern of gray kitty from him. Giving them a smile before walking down the stairs and back towards your car. The kitty struggling to get out of your hands before you open the door and get inside.
You sit the kitty in the passenger seat as you start the car looking towards the kitty as you decide whether to take her home or not. Seeing you weren’t too far from the stores and it wasn’t too hot or could you decide that she’d be fine in the car for a few minutes. As quickly as you could you drove to the pet store and parked as closely as possible.
“Stay, be good and no driving off,” You look down at the curious kitty on the floor of the passenger side. “I’ll be right back.” You say, turning the car off and running inside. Quickly finding all of the necessary things and trying to speed up the process of checking out by not really answering the cashier when he asked you things.
“Thank you,” You said once he was done and you paid. Running back to the car and kinda, putting the things in the backseat before getting into the driver's seat.
Before you start to take off you hear your cell phone go off. Curious to where it went you frantically searched for it finding it in your purse that you’d thrown in the back seat. The phone light up in big letters “Jamie <3”
“Hello!” You cheerily say into the phone.
“Where you at?” His voice was curious. “I know when yah, get off,” he seemed a little teasing.
“Your home?” You ask, hoping that he would have gone out, so you could sneak in the little fur ball.
“I was, but it was soo,” he drags out the ‘o’, “boring, I’m walking around the neighborhood.”
As he said this you took your chance to start leaving. “I may have stopped at the store and the cafe,” you hope he’ll believe it, “I’ll be home soon, but it looks like traffic is a little bad. So take your time,” you had a smile in your voice hoping he wouldn’t head home quite yet.
“Alright, if you’re sure,” you could tell be his voice that he knew something was up.
“I’ll see you soon, I love you, bye,” you smile as he says, “I love you and bye,” back.
Driving home wasn’t too bad but trying to keep the kitty in the front seat proved to be difficult. But before you knew it you were pulling into the driveway, turning the car off and struggling to get the bags in the back along with holding a kitty. You knew you could do so once out of the car you quickly made your way to the door, also leaving your hot chocolate in the car.
“Alright, stay still a little longer,” you told the kitty pushing open the door and heading the spare bathroom. “There you go,” you let her loose and she instantly began to explore as you closed the door.
You hum to yourself as you set up her litter box and a food bowl. Setting the rest of the stuff on the vanity. “Alright, be good and don’t make noise,” You try to stay serenity but you also need to make yourself look like you’ve done nothing wrong.
Making sure there wasn’t anything harmful you, get out of the bathroom and shut the door. Walking down the hall and towards the main living area downstairs, you hear the door open. Excitedly you make your way towards the door though not paying too much attention to tell you have slightly warm and cold hands grab your arms.
“What do we have here?” He grins down at you, before leaning in a placing a small kiss on your lips. “A bit of chocolate?” He asks, “Did you get hot chocolate?”
“Yes, I think I left it in the car,” you pout.
“If yah, go get it. You could probably warm it up?” He offered.
You thought about it before deciding you really wanted that hot chocolate, “Alright,” you say smiling up at him before moving around him. Feeling him watch you as you went out the door.
Walking towards the car you hoped it was unlocked, and to your luck it was. Grabbing the drink you hurried back inside before Jamie had any time to adventure the house.
“Oi, what is this?” You hear his very accented voice shout as you walked into the house.
You felt a little nervous, as you sat the drink down again. Quietly closing the door and creeping towards the stairs.
“What?” You hear a more quiet voice coming from him. As you guess he was looking a little closer to the kitty before you heard a louder, “What are you doing?” before some loud running.
Though nothing came into your view, as you felt a little concern run through you. You carefully make your way up the stairs and peeking around the corner.
Finding the kitty cuddle up in his arms, and him patting it. “You're very soft,” He was said, “Where did you come from?” He asks quietly talking to the cat, you’d guess.
You bit your lip, feeling like this wasn’t the best idea, and hid, again.
“Very sneaky, she is, isn’t she?” He asks. “You’d be nice to keep around, can run around the house with you and drive her crazy,” you could hear him say along with a giggle.
You sigh leaning back against the wall, knowing that this wasn’t a horrible idea.
“Could’ve asked, though,” You look up to see Jamie, cuddling the cute little kitty to his chest as he grins down at you.
