Sleepy time on the couch

Crying because there’s a bug in your room and you’re deathly afraid of them.
-
You call Price, no answer. Soap, no answer. Ghost, no answer. Gaz, the line rings once. Twice. Then it clicks.
“Yeah?”
“Kyle there’s an emergency I need you to get here right now no excuses.”
“What? Okay?” He hangs up and rushes to your room, opening the door to find you on your bed in tears pressed up into the furthest corner. You sniffle and point to the center of the room, where a tiny spider was just sitting there. Gaz looks at the ground and has the nerve to laugh at you, grabbing a cup and a piece of paper to trap the thing.
He lets it outside and helps you down from the bed, letting you cry into him for a few minutes.
“Hey you’re alright, quit being a wuss. You got me for pest control, don’t worry your pretty little head.” He pats your hair gently and wipes your face when you finally pull back.
“There’s another one in the bathroom.”
“Christ, woman.”
thank you, lower decks!
@merthurmicrofic prompt: numb Word count: 178 words
“Wha’ i’ tha’?” Arthur asked, around the dentist’s fingers, eyeing the needle moving towards his face.
“Just a local anaesthetic. Nothing to worry about. It will help with the pain,” the dentist replied calmly.
“A’a—wha--?”
“Anaesthetic, Arthur,” Merlin repeated. “Remember, we talked about it in the car? It makes your mouth go numb. He was homeschooled,” he added, as an aside to the dentist.
“I- do—” Arthur shifted in frustration, and the dentist removed his fingers. “I don’t need that. I’m perfectly capable of managing my pain on my own.”
The dentist laughed. “Oh, I think you’ll definitely want it for this. We won’t be able to give you your crown without it.”
Arthur frowned, glancing over at Merlin.
“Not that kind of crown,” Merlin sighed. He reached out and took Arthur’s hand.
“You’ll just feel a little scratch and then a bit of pressure, but no pain,” the dentist said.
“I’m not worried,” Arthur said quickly.
“I’ll leave you to it, then, shall I?” Merlin said.
Arthur’s grip tightened on his hand.
Merlin stayed.

A few thoughts that have finally been put to digital paper
Really, kids will actually be (and already are) growing up with AI. They'll exist from the youngest age in an internet where truth doesn't mean shit, everything can be faked, anyone's image or voice or art can be exploited in a couple of clicks if you just know what site to go to.
32-40°C or worse summers will be how it's always been. Yeah, there's forest fires every year, so what? So what if I've only seen snow when I was 4 even though I live in a temperate climate? So what if there's floods that destroy people's homes? The alternative is as tough to imagine as life without the internet
And then there's the fascism and endless destruction of the only goddamn place in the known universe that can support life, of course. I know gen Z who have given up and are expecting the world to end in their lifetime. How will/does it feel to people who are even younger? Do they just become doomers like my peers as soon as they understand what existential dread is?
Only the rich will be fine (unless something is done about it)
(Please don't repost the art to other places. Idk why you'd do that but I'm askin anyway)
I've been listening to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward theme on loop to the point that this was inevitable
