TADC - After The Circus Human AU

WELCOME MY SPECIAL SAUCY TOASTERS!!

I have a new AU to share with you all and this one is an absolute doozy. So firstly our favorite crew are back to being humans. Yay!!

why do they look so rough? Well being deprived of everything but the absolute necessity’s that were only given through tubes has left our marvelous cast looking a bit worse for wear. Not too mention muscle atrophy for the older members, sensory deprivation, so y know their not in the best state.

what are they all staring at? why our wonderful ringmaster of course! Wait he’s only 17 and has been in the game so long he doesn’t even remember what humans are. Oh boy…

who did this to them? C&A, the evilest company to ever exist. It was never about the game…

Why does he look so similar to Grant (Kinger)? You are correct, Callum (Caine) is Grant’s son. What a happy family reunion.. kinda

vox makes himself an easy target with the whole 'not getting over alastor' thing (and we should never stop making fun of him for it) but I've gotta say the way Alastor very unilaterally chose to set fire to their relationship yet won't stop dipping back in to bother vox in ways that are appropriate to their present adversarial dynamic yet rarely seem to involve anyone getting seriously hurt, using variations of the same language he used when they were friends, repeatedly making casual references to how long they've been in each others lives, and their relationship is so close to the forefront of his mind when it comes to people he considers central to his life that it's the first thing he thinks of when faced with a major problem to solve.... it all absolutely smacks of somebody who's never had a friendship breakup before (at least not with someone he was that close to) and truly has no idea how to deal with it. which incidentally squares well with my conviction that alastor is the all-time champion of psychological splitting. he does not know how to cope with missing someone whose company he enjoyed and being immensely angry and hurt at the same time, and this is the fucking result. like as much of a freak as vox is I do think he can internally conceptualize the fact he's grieving a lost relationship and angry about it. he's not going to admit to the former under any circumstances but he understands it (I mean, he very explicitly mocks the idea in his rendition of Don't You Forget, which really is just him telling on himself). But Alastor is essentially still trying to satisfy his desire for Vox's friendship in the absence of a relationship framework that easily allows for it, not realizing that's what he's doing because how could he want to be around someone he also kind of hates?

... anyway. it sure will be interesting to see how his relationship with rosie shakes out in s3 now that he doesn't have any obvious excuse for spending time with her, huh

Okay but actually re-watching the scene where Trinity finds Dennis on the 8th floor and watching the emotions on his face as he talks to her.

The embarrassment he feels when he looks away from Santos continuing to lie that he's only "crashing there after a late night" and pretending he has some semblance of control over his situation. Even though he knows how he looks surrounded by his meager belongings. Knows she already knows the truth but continuing to lie anyway.

AND THEN the hesistancy and the sadness when he says he's "between places" thinking about why he is in the position he is and what led him to that 8th floor. Like really thinking about his family back home why he couldn't ask them for help. Or thinking of the years he spent in Pittsburg and how he somehow didn't have someone to turn to. When faced with the choice of reaching out for help or squatting on the 8th floor he chose the latter. Like how much that reveals to us about who Dennis is as a person.

Oh Dennis Whitaker you mean so so so much to me.

dan and phil deserve privacy and a big part of the reason i'm so stuck here over other fandoms i just cannot develop the same parasocial tendencies for mainstream celebrities with pr agents and shit like a lottt of dan and phil's stuff is staged but at least it's staged by Them

however. i do sometimes wish we got those major scandals and stupid front page gossip magazine stories that idk one direction or whatever fans used to get. like not actually because i don't want dan and phil to be subjected to that but my aashole drama fuelled brain gets very bored with life sometimes yknow
