Yknow now that I've talked about it a bit, TFA cybertron doesn't actually HAVE a concept like "parenthood" does it?

I mean, they have a concept of, like, rearing, and teaching young bots but that seems to be purely in the context of education. The farthest you get is something like a caretaker which doesn't necessarily denote an emotional connection.

OP and co didn't quite seem to understand what a 'dad' was when they arrived on Earth though the fact that they quickly picked up on its meaning probably means they understand the concept at least emotionally.

I dunno, I'm just thinking a lot about how, like, on Cybertron plenty of bots probably ARE like parent-child relationships but don't have any kind of special name for it. The emotions are there but there's no inherent cultural structure backing it up.

I'm just wondering what kind of implications that would have for their culture as a whole and what being introduced to the earthen concept of "parenthood" might do.

We're coming up to the year anniversary of my dad's death and we've decided to buy a potted spruce tree from the local tree farm and decorate it at his grave. Have a little festive memorial, use our kitschiest decorations in honour of our very kitschy dad (with love of course. Also we're going to plant it at my mom's after).

But the farmer who owns the tree farm, he knew my dad was sick, but hadn't heard he passed, and he talked about how my dad always stopped by to give him extra seeds for his personal garden and liked to argue about what classic rock was actually classic rock , just regular mundane stuff.

And it's bittersweet to have to comfort someone in their sudden grief while I'm still working on myself, but finding out these new memories of my dad just feels special. Got me thinking about legacies recently, and what we leave behind. I think my dad would be pleased with his.

it's so weird when you find yourself sharing an opinion with a fucking awful person, but I don't think that means you should change your opinion just to disagree with them like if a white supremacist said Tronald Dump's national budget policy makes no sense, I'm not about to start supporting The Dump just so I have nothing in common with the white supremacist

I think I worked out what I want my new bedroom to look like:

gonna keep my grey metal bedframe, my two dark brown antique dressers and my exams cabinet from 2nd year of school (green and light brown), buy that huge 2x1.4m 99€ forrest canvas picture from ikea for above the bed, color that wall dark green and the other two walls in light grey and add green and grey drapes in front of the window.

I want that room to be really calm, so no TV, no stereo, no huge wardrobe just the two dressers (one has 5 drawers and is about 1m high, the other has a big drawer and a rack and is about 1.5m high), and lots of negative space. I think giving it a forresty atmosphere with the green theme could work well...

I'm the only one in my family right now that can lift heavy objects (like dog food and such) now. I need to get more in shape.
