One of the wildest things about customer service with answering phones specifically is the unhinged places my clients choose to call me. Among the worst hearing experiences are (might be calling some of you out, I am begging you not to do this):
- on the highway, window down with Bluetooth (your Bluetooth sucks to hear btw. It has a dogshit mic, I have never heard a good one)
- in the bathroom while using the toilet. Why people do this is absolutely beyond me. I don't wanna hear you poopin and peein I know we all do it but keep it to yaself.
- in a public pool during busy hours. This was so unpleasant that the next one doesn't compare. Oh you don't like echoes? Perchance you would like the echoes of very excited (understandably I hope they have fun) children in the background? Hmmm?
- parking garages!! :D yes our connection is bad, no you shouldn't be mad at me about it. You are calling me from a parking garage.
- a restaurant kitchen - why did you do this? I can't hear you, the chef is angry you're not working and you're upset about both. Pls, we are open until 6pm.
- a fucking train???????????????? A packed fucking train - when I tell you this is the worst sound experience I have ever listened to. So much chatter, the screech of the brakes, the stations having their loud announcements and the train itself. GOD. so painful to listen to.
-and finally, in the middle of a heated argument. Begging you not to do this. I am held hostage by the obligations of my job, I do not want to hear two (or more) people yelling at each other and at me. I'm just a guy and it is so awkward.
