the story of how i've annoyed a cat into waking up from a coma by pulling at his butt hair

so i've been working as a vet assistant for a few months now and earlier today i've had my first real emergency when a sedated cat aspirated on his own vomit - long story, i can elaborate later - the relevant part comes when he's post-emergency surgery and the vet team is trying to get him to wean from the oxygen tube. it's usually a pretty quick process but his reactions are incredibly slow and his breathing and Not Great. earlier he was blue for about a minute and his current monitor readings are fluctuating so all we can really do is hope for the best.

eventually we get the oxygen tube out and the cat is breathing on his own but he doesn't wake up and his reflexes are weak. at this point the vet says the cat is currently comatose. he leaves me to supervise him and... brush him. i've got baby wipes (poor thing has got some bodily fluids on him) and a flea comb, one of those with the really dense teeth, and i start brushing him. per the vet's instructions, i brush hard. pulling at the knots, stretching the skin. the cat is a 6kg big boy with beautiful long fur so i've got stuff to work with. a few minutes pass and as i brush, i monitor his breathing, and i notice he moans a couple of times, very weakly, when i pull at some stubborn knots. i keep brushing. after several more minutes, when i work around his neck fur, i notice he's lifting his head. just a millimeter at a time, but there's brief movement. i keep brushing.

the next several minutes, his reactions stop. he's still breathing, but nothing else. i'm a bit worried. i move on to work on the fur around his butt. head movement. weak again, but very clear. i brush again, pulling at the hard knots. definite movement. he's trying to lift his head. i'm done with the area and move to his back fur. as i work there, his reactions stop again. i go back to his butt. head movement again. he's lifting it! and his tail was fluttering too - the small erratic movements a cat makes when he's bothered. i realized that he gets the most stimulation when i mess around with his butt hair. in simple words, pulling at his sensitive butt fur annoyed him so much that it was pulling him out of his comatose state.

so i keep brushing it, as thoroughly as i could, even when the knots were all gone i brushed it just for the hell of it, and after a few more minutes of excited borderline-butt torture the cat was lying in a half-sphinx position, holding his head up all on his own.

when i left work a few hours later, he was much better. not out of the woods by any means - his breathing's still Not Good and his reactions are still slow - but he was feeling good enough to try and jump out of his hospitalization cage (even if he ended up regretting the attempt, as just getting up on his feet and getting into jumping position made him pant hard)

anyway i'll be seeing him tomorrow morning and i really hope he'll make it through the night

I mean, personally? I would like for Miss Endler to step on me.

As a soccer fan? I think she's reaaaaally good. It's a shame that the PSG defense has more holes than a net because she has to do 50x more work than other goalies. Much like Sky Blue, Tiane Endler and Kailen Sheridan probably have back pain from carrying their teams (except psg has a more effective offense most of the time but still).

That being said, she has the wonderful benefit of genetics. Really long legs (and like... muscles for days) for better reach, a pretty wide wingspan, and she has really good reflexes. Also she's like, really nice? She's got all that good good vibe about her.

As a Colombian i can only love so much on another South American, especially a Chilean, but God damn, Tiane is just gooooooood brah.
