Over Thinking and it leading to missing out
I`m Confident that I`m not alone when it comes to overthinking.
We are couple of weeks into the new year and I`m guessing most people are back into their routines. With a few people having started something new. like that diet they said they would, signed up for that class at the local sports club or booked that trip they have been talking about for so long.
This post is for the people who have slipped right back into their old routine but still have that voice questioning if/when they will “just do the thing”.
I want to share a moment where this presented itself with me recently that I feel is worth sharing and hopefully to inspire others to stop other thinking and just do the thing.
Its literally 1st day of 2020 and I`m lying in bed cosy, warm and a little tender after celebrating entering the new year with friends. I look at my phone and a reminder pops up, Polar bear swim at Kitsilano beach.
I`ve overslept and I`m tired, every bone in my body screaming just don’t go, send a message saying “Sorry I can`t make it” no one will care. My head giving me a hundred and 1 excuses why this is a waste of time and effort.
Thankfully I ignored the voices in my head, just started making my way to the beach on the way repeating to myself “it`s something you’ve never done before it will be fun”.
I arrive to the small group of friends. We strip off. Then Ready, Set, Go……. we’re running into the cold water on new years day.
It was such a great way to start the new year, great to connect with friends and most of all it’s another great experience I`ve had whilst travelling that I will never forget.
One that I would have completely missed out on if I had given in to the overthinking.
I hope this has made you think of that one thing you still really want to do?
So stop overthinking and Just do the Thing!
I would love to hear of something exciting you have recently started or have got booked soon. Please share and hopefully we can inspire more people.
