Cross fandom ship of Jaune and Kya (Jya or Kaune). How do you think that would go? Would Jaune think water bending is just a sort of semblance at first? Would Kya think Jaune’s semblance is (essentially) energy bending.
"Excuse me, are you the client?" Jaune asked, poking his head into the store. The scent of different herbs at first made him think this was some kind of grocery store, but seeing as the inventory was mostly medical supplies, he could assume the foliage wasn't intended for eating. "Miss... Kee-ya?"
"It's 'ky-ya', actually." The woman smiled. "Are you the hunters I asked for?" The word seemed odd to her, as though it was a fruit she'd tasted only once and it was less famously familar.
"Yes, ma'am!" Jaune cheerfully replied. "Anywhere you'd like your package?"
"There should be a storage shed behind the store."
"Great! If it's unlocked, my team and I can get it inside."
"Sure, let me just get some water and I'll meet you there."
"I can walk with you, if you'd like."
"Afraid I'll run away?" She smirked, getting a chuckle from the armored man.
"It's your supplies. My teammate mentioned how rare it was getting an order so holistic."
"If it means more lives saved, I'll be happy to try just about anything." She reached below and pulled up a small waterskin.
"Oh, this is a clinic?"
"It is." She nodded, meeting him at the door. "I decided to open one since moving here from Republic City."
"Republic... City?" Jaune blinked. "Sounds... far."
"It is, but after everything that was going on, I thought it was time of a change of scenery. The further the better, you know?"
"I kind of do." Jaune opened the door, waving to his team at the cart. "Guys, this is Miss Kya; she's our client. Miss Kya, this is Team JNPR; Ren, Nora, and Oscar."
"Greetings." Ren politely nodded.
"Hiya, Kya~!" Nora cheerfully called, giggling at her own wit.
"Uh, hello." Oscar gave a small wave.
"Thank you for delivering my supplies." Kya bowed. "I hope the delivery wasn't too much trouble."
"Eh. What's a couple Nevermores and Beowolves, am I right?"
"Erm... Yes..." The question was a lot more on the mark for Kya than she'd expected. Spirits were one thing, but this side of the world seemed to have their own issues that only made Kya feel more foreign than she'd expected to be. "The supply shed is just back here."
"I got it~!" Lifting the cart suddenly, nearly tipping over Ren and actually to Oscar, she darted ahead and passed alongside the building. "Beep beep beep..." Nora called out as she backed into position, making Jaune wince and cringe at all the sudden movements.
Kya giggled. "Well, she's certainly lightning in a bottle~."
"You have no idea." Jaune sighed.
"Is she a fire bender?" Jaune gave her a look like an eel-hound sprouted from her ear. Part of her wanted to bite her tongue. She'd forgotten that she was completely in a new location and hadn't seen a bender since. Far as she knew, she was the only bender here. "Sorry, it's..."
"A Republic City thing?"
"Yes..." If she could dig a hole for herself, she would.
"I wonder what it's like." Jaune said, taking a few steps forward. He turned to her. "You said it was back here, right?"
"Did you pick that up the first time or the second time?" She asked, joining him. Now it was his turn to be embarrassed.
"Oh, uh, right."
"It's nice." Kya answered, moving past the awkwardness. "My brothers certainly liked it. But it just wasn't home for me."
"Well, hopefully you can feel more at home here, Kya." They rounded the corner, reached the storage shed. Approaching it, Jaune noticed the odd lock in place on the door. Spirals moving counterclockwise etched into the wooden body. Kya moved closer, popping open the waterskin. Water flowed swiftly in a tube through the air before slipping into the bottom of the lock, the spirals now moving until they formed one large clockwise spiral, unlatching the shackle. "Whoa... I don't think I've ever seen a semblance do that."
"A semblance?" Kya blinked, opening the door. "Is that a... here thing?"
"Wow, Republic City is far." Jaune opened the door a little. She winced a little. "Uh, not- not that it's a bad thing, I was just, y'know, I wasn't expecting to see you, um- I mean, what I meant to say was that you being from so far away must mean we're going to be different, which, of course, yeah, we are going to be different, but not different in a bad way, which different doesn't mean bad, but-"
Kya laughed, turning to his team. "Is he always this nervous?"
"Only around pretty girls he likes." Nora said as she entered the shed, crate in her arm.
"Nora..." Ren chided, hefting his crate on one side while Oscar worked from the other.
"What, it's true!" Nora walked out, passing Ren before stopping at Kya. "It's true~."
Kya looked from Nora to Jaune. Jaune tried to avoid looking at Kya while as red as a fire ferret's fur. She gave a chuckle as more crates were loaded in by Nora (two stacked on top), while Ren and Oscar were just stepping out from their first one. It was flattering, to say the least, especially from a handsome young man. Still, there was a big difference between the two of them, with her prior home being the first obvious indication. But there was something to be said about opposites attract, right?
"Well, he is handsome." She said. "But there is still the matter of payment."
"Uh..." Jaune gulped, flushing harder at the handsome statement.
"We don't accept payment in kisses." Ren clarified.
"Psh! Maybe you don't." Nora clarified harder.
"I can take over the payment if you want, Jaune." Oscar offered, standing by the last crate.
"NO, THAT'S-" Jaune cracked before immediately clearing his throat. "Uh, no, no, Oscar, I can, uh... I can handle it." Pulling loose his scroll, he tapped it a few times before a screen flashed open with information. "Just sign here after you verify that you are Kya."
"Of course." She looked over the screen. "Five crates..." Kya looked inside to find Nora carrying the fifth and final crate with Oscar still dangling off the side. "Mhm. Delivered by one Team J-N-P-R."
"Uh, Team JNPR is fine." Jaune clarified the acronym.
"Which consists of Ren, Oscar, Nora, and..." She smirked as she looked up. "I don't believe you told me your name."
"It's... It's Jaune. Jaune Arc."
"Jaune." Her smirk melted into a smile. "Lovely name."
"Th- Thank you..."
"This should be everything, right, Jaune?"
"Uh, yeah, should be..." Jaune almost welcomed the distraction with how embarrassed he was feeling. "Mhm. Yup. Everything seems in order." He nodded. "Thank you. If you ever need anything, feel free to give us a call."
"I'll keep that in mind, Jaune."
"Please do, uh, Kya." Jaune walked to the cart, ready to leave with his team.
"Oh, and Jaune?" He looked back. "I'd love to talk more about Republic City if you have the time."
"Oh! Sure thing~!" Jaune waved before turning back to his team. "I'll make be sure to visit next time I'm here."
"Please do." She smiled, watching him leave with his team, some of them chuckling as they teased and prodded their teammate. Entering the shed, she realized she still had the lock in her hand. The single spiral stretching in a long curve around the body. She smiled at the arc. "What a nice, young man." She blinked before giving a groan. She was starting to sound like her mother.
