HEADCANON. anbu days.

I truly love that part of Kakashi’s life, showing a side of him even darker and not as lazy as we came to know him in his older years. Thing is, it’s not really easy to figure when he started... and when he stopped so I decided that I’ll headcanon it and just... Wing it. ( headcanon means my own canon, so please don’t come and tell me that it’s not how it truly happened. i know. )

Considering the young Hatake was 10/11 when Obito ‘died’ and a bit older when Rin passed away too and also the fact that when Minato became Hokage, he appointed Kakashi as one of his personal ANBU... I’d say it’s safe to put that he was around 12/13 years old when he joined. His sensei then died when he was 14... And he stayed in that rank for a few couple of years.

That’s when it gets a little tricky. Kakashi and Itachi have a 8/9 years gap. So if we assume that Itachi entered ANBU at 11, it means that he became his captain at 19/20. Two years later, the UCHIHA MASSACRE happens. He was around 21/22 years old. Now, we know about these talk Asuma, Gai and Kurenai had with the third Hokage, which made him decide that Kakashi was too kind to be in that organisation... And would become a Jonin-sensei instead.

But the question is... When did it happen ?

Considering that Sasuke was 8 when his clan was killed and 13 when he was put into team seven ( also that Kakashi failed two teams before them )... I think it’s a safe bet to assume that he left ANBU 3 years after the massacre, which means he was 24/25. So in my headcanon that goes which pretty much all of my verses ( unless it’s modern ), Kakashi have been in the organisation from 12/13 to 24/25 which gives a twelve years of active duty.
