Kalemne’s Behemoths, Giants, and Titans, Oh my!
Kalemne likes big dumb creatures. So what did I do? Add more big dumb creatures. I actually didn’t add a whole lot of cards, only 7 total. So this’ll be short. Also, sorry for missing yesterday. Got caught up in a whole bunch of things and couldn’t get around to posting until late at night. I’m going to have to push back my schedule one day, so tomorrow you’ll be getting Ezuri and Mizzix. Saturday, I’ll probably work out a list for Karlov and put that up.
Archangel of Strife means that we get more things turning sideways at the table, which will help you when you run out of steam towards the end game, as it promotes action among the other players. Conduit of Ruin helps with the big dumb creatures as well as tutoring up the two Eldrazi titans in the list, Kozilek and Ulamog, if need be. Note that it says you may, so if it’s unnecessary to find them, you can just opt out of searching. Elesh Norn is a great pump spell and another big creature to trigger Kalemne. And the only other creature I added was Palisade Giant. Which, shockingly, is the only giant I added. While useful, it’ll probably just stagnate the board for a little while, draw a kill spell, or soak up an alpha strike from a player that didn’t read the card.
I only added Argentum Armor to the list because of it’s +6/+6 boost and the fact that it destroys any permanent whenever you attack. Which is almost always.
So, because I didn’t add many things to the list, here’s some strategies in the deck. First off, Blade of Selves. Blade of Selves works amazingly on a multitude of creatures in the list. The best, in my opinion, are Angel of Serenity, Archangel of Strife, Borderland Behemoth, Hamletback Goliath, Inferno/Sun Titan, Magma Giant, Sunrise Sovereign, and Thundercloud Shaman. Thundercloud Shaman turns into an asymmetrical board wipe in your favor due to the Giant subtheme. Borderland Behemoth is the one I can’t wait to equip Blade of Selves to. In a 4 player game (including yourself), attacking with an equipped Behemoth means that each player as to deal with, at minimum, a 12/12 trampler. Each additional giant makes each one that more lethal.
Hostility + any of the Sorceries that deal damage to each opponent. Fiery Confluence for example, in a 4 player game, equates to 2RR, put 18 3/1 red Elemental Shamn creatures tokens with haste onto the abttlefield. Sure, they may have ways to block them. But if even if 2 make it through, you’ve made up for the fact that the others didn’t. Any extras are just bonuses.
Kalemne also has a minor equipment theme, so equipping her with any (or all) of the equipment you can get your hands on will end an opponents game much faster.
