guys have kamushin ever actually genuinely canonically interacted with each other ? ? i remember ritsu trying to go in jin's room & do ritsu things and him failing to do so,, but that's it ! ! just one almost-interaction from my memory,, can someone confirm ? ?
Pattern in my OTPs: Sadistic! Top x Fearless! Bottom
Dont mind me, just self-indulging about my OTPs
Anyways!
Recently, I've noticed that I have a certain type when in comes to my OTPs which is a sadistic top paired with a fearless bottom. Granted, not all of my OTPs are of this type but I dont think its an exaggeration when I say that at least 90% of them are like this
GinHiji
Out of all of my OTPs, I'd say GinHiji pretty much embodies my favourite type of OTPs. Gintoki is canonically a Sadist and in fact, is known to be a Do-S alongside Sougo. Contrasting him is the fearless yet tsundere Hijikata. Another reason why I like them is the manzai combi they have. Hijikata is forever exasperated by Gintoki and cant help but be the tsukkomi to Gintoki's boke 🤣
BakuDeku
These 2 have a very complicated relationship but thankfully have improved a lot especially in recent years. Bakugou can be quite sadistic but considering what's happened between them and him canonically wants to do better, I think it'll take awhile for Bakugou to let out that sadistic side of him around Deku
With Deku though, he doesnt mind and I think we all can agree that Deku is a disastrous combination of fearless and reckless 😅
6927
One of my 1st OTPs since high school. Now, I dont think i need to tell anyone who's ever read or watched KHR that Mukuro is hands down quite terrifying and considering his introduction, has a sadistic streak a mile wide
For Tsuna, yeah....while its true that he tend to be more afraid than not but as time went on, it became more apparent that he's grown to be couragous and fearless when it comes to his Famiglia
KamuShin
granted, this is more of a crackship since Kamui and Shinpachi barely interacted but I like how their personalities mesh together. Kamui is another canonically sadistic chara in Gintama, anyone who's ever seen him fight in the Yoshiwara or Silver Soul arc can attest to that. Not to mentioned all of the shenanigans and mayhem he likes to cause with a deranged grin
Shinpachi is noted to be fearless in his own right, capable of accomplishing feats that other normal humans would feel impossible to even try. cant forget that he's also the one who made Utsuro pause before the timeskip
plus, they're also a manzai combi! a Do-S Yato boke with a glasses tsukkomi XD
ParaEmu
initially, i like them as a switch couple but recent years make me lean more of them as a fixed pair with Parad as a top. starting out as a villain, Parad was noted to be quite sadistic especially when he possessed Emu. He's since mellowed out but since we dont see much of how the charas are post-canon, its hard to say if he retained his more sadistic nature. i tend to hc that he does but only lets it out when needed
if anyone knows Emu's not so pleasant childhood and how he's risen to overcome many obstacles in life, then i think we can agree that he's become one of the most fearless charas in Ex-Aid
DeathPuss
okay, this one is pretty much on the nose. sadistic grim reaper hunting down everyone's favourite fearless hero anyone?
WangXian
Wei Wuxian is one of the most fearless charas I've ever had the pleasure to know about. the way he holds onto his morals and convictions even as the whole world turned against him is nothing short of inspiring. born with a smile and a noble heart that's matched by his beloved husband Lan Wangji
while he's not sadistic in the usual sense, Lan Wangji in the novel is known to mercilessly tease his husband especially in :ehem: bed. not to mentioned that when he deems it necessary, this man never hesitates to swiftly cut people down with just a few words right at jugular too
DazuShi
a suicidal former Port Mafia who's known to torture people paired with his steadily fearless were-tiger. i love their dynamic
MiSawa
Miyuki Kazuya is canonically known as twisted by both allies and opponents alike even feared to the point of petrifying the target of his ire with just a glare.
Sawamura Eijun? the fearless sunshine boy who overcome odds that would and have retired many players from the game. the Yips arc was remarkable in showing Eijun's strength and determination
KaiShin
the trickster who can easily manipulate law enforcements and enemies alike. its more noted in the early chapters of the manga, but Kaito was more callous. while thats no longer the case, Kaito is still quite unhinged
Shinichi? well, with all the reckless stunts he's pulled over the past 20+ years, i think fearless is an understatement for this detective
LawLu
the recent addition to my OTP list. LawLu is the one that made me realise that I tend to favour sadistic tops when I was trying to articulate Law's preference in my HC
thats when I realised that Law has a sadistic streak in canon. while its not explored all that much since he's an ally of the Straw Hats, we see hints of it. combined with the fact that he's a nerd, big on plans and control, he's a terrifying force. this is the same guy who cut opened 100 pirate hearts and sent them to the Marines
Luffy? he's fearless as they come. overcoming many hardships and coming out stronger. who fights for freedom and nakama even if it means facing death. hell, its canon that he's not afraid to face death for what he believes in
_____
With that said, I love my OTPs 🤩😍
.....Also, should I be worried that I'm a little too fond of sadistic tops for my OTPs? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how the very first time Shinpachi and Kamui actually ever interacted face-to-face is to act as the peaceful mediator (Something he’s good at due to having a violent, irrational family).
And I don’t know if Sorachi-sama just wanted to include Shinpachi so he’s not left out of this family fight, but I think it fits that he’s the one giving Kamui a peaceful alternative because it really does remind people of the fact that Shinpachi is the least violent yet the most steady-thinking and emotionally intelligent person among the yorozuya. A trait shown prominently during:
the Umibouzu Arc - He understood Kagura’s feelings the best and called Gintoki out on his idiocy for pushing her away by firing her (Though a child should be with their parent, it should be their choice.)
The first chapter of Gintama + Yagyuu Arc + Beam Sword Style Arc - The Shimura Siblings are a perfect contrast to what is strength.
Otae symbolizes more of a physical and spiritual strength.
It’s a no-brainer that she’s physically strong, and a show of spiritual strength is through never breaking or allowing anyone to abuse her and her stubbornness to keep to her principles as the daughter of a samurai and protect what’s of sentimental value unlike Shinpachi who apologizes to authority, has to train constantly to be strong, and rather discard what’s of sentimental value to live more flexibly. Shinpachi lacking these made him incapable of protecting those around him and himself at first.
Shinpachi symbolizes more of a emotional and mental strength.
Though Otae seemed strong by always smiling against the painful moments, that smile soon became more of a shield against talking about real issues. This kind of attitude always led her to do reckless acts that leads to Shinpachi and those who came to care for her to suffer the most. Shinpachi on the other hand is very open about the issues around him, he pays attention to how his actions will affect those he loves so he never steps out of bounds, and though his love for Otsuu is a bit much, he completely knows why he is dedicated to her. Although the Otsu Arc may seem silly, it showed a part of Shinpachi where he won’t allow people to use others for their own means without truly appreciating them.
Despite the lack of attention to their character, both Shimura siblings have been improving in the strengths they lack where Shinpachi is improving as a samurai and Otae is smiling more genuinely and having more faith in her brother...
The Yoshiwara in Flames Arc - I can’t stress enough how important he was in this arc for Kagura’s sake as a person and a yato warrior.
Character Poll Arc - Poor Shinpachi...And Yamazaki I guess, but mostly poor Shinpachi
Love Cho-LOL jk- I meant Kagura’s boyfriend Arc - DADPACHI!!!!
Okay, I turned into a fangirl at then end there, but I think I made a pretty good point of why I find Shinpachi being the peaceful mediator is very fitting for this chapter. Not only does it fit his character the best, but he’s pretty much the person who looks after Kagura like a daughter better than Gintoki or anyone else does, so him correcting Kamui feels a lot more legitimate.
This is just a pet peeve of mine but I'm very particular about tags when it comes to shipping. I follow the asian (particularly the Japanese and Chinese) style and etiquette of tagging when it comes to shipping which is the top/bottom dynamic (example: WangXian which indicates Lan Wangji as the top and Wei Wuxian as the bottom). This is to avoid what the Japanese fandom call as 'landmines'. Because not everyone likes to see other dynamics when it comes to their ships and I try to do my best to respect that
Which is why I don't like cross tagging when it comes to ships. If I write 'KaiShin' then thats the dynamic you'll get in my posts. I dont like using a ship name as an umbrella term in asian media so if I tag a ship name, it'll be of that a fixed ship dynamic, NOT an all dynamics ship (reversible or switch)
This is mainly for asian media ships (i'm mostly into anime/manga, jdrama and danmei. I haven't read enough manwha though regrettably). For western media, I use the ship names that's commonly used for said ships which is usually that of an umbrella term. Like 'Buddie' (Evan Buckley/Eddie Diaz from 911) for example
Anyways, I just wanted to make it clear for anyone who'd stumble upon my original posts in case anyone is particular about ship tags like me. If I do like a switch or reversible ship though, I'll make sure to tag it (example: sasunarusasu/sns) so dont worry
EDIT:
Recently, I was told in a comment on this post that top/bottom dont exist in real life and shouldn't be applied as such and we should use whatever names we like. I cannot speak for those who are in relationships in real life but from the few people I do know of, top/bottom and versatile preferences do exist and in the end, people's preferences in real life is their own business
These tags however are for fictional ships of fictional characters. The tags are for myself and to anyone else who wishes to use em as a means to curate what they'd want to find or avoid if they ever stumble across my blog. Those who dont like or agree my reason for tagging my ships, thats okay. Tag them howeve you want. People are free to tag their ships however they want and in the end, this is my own way to curate my own blog
If there are those who dont like or agree with the way I tag my ships, then thats okay. Feel free to avoid or block me. Do whatever that you feel that's best for you
However, I am sorry if there's anything that I've written here that irated or offended you. I am, by the end of the day only human
Or a potato as it is, just trying to enjoy my ships and fandoms
Anyways, thanks for reading this far!
Also, I'm tagging my ships here just in case for my followers or for others who wants to avoid it if they see my posts:
I’m writing a fanfic for them so I wanna line my thoughts:
This relationship actually takes years (at least from three to five or even ten years) to develop. Kamui doesn’t remember Shinpachi at all during the Yoshiwara Arc and only faintly remembers him during the war. After they officially met, he only considered Shinpachi a future opponent since he was still pretty weak by Kamui’s standard at first. Shinpachi on the other hand remembers Kamui clearly in both arcs, but having seen the older brother change for the better for Kagura, the young samurai holds no ill will towards him. He simply looks forward to his visits since they make Kagura happy, and hope to keep a distance since he didn’t want trouble with another insane, violent person close in his life. Unknowingly fortunately, they do grow closer the more times Kamui visits Earth and Shinpachi is bought to space due to the usual random turn of events for the Yorozuya.
Though Shinpachi seems to be the type of person Kamui wouldn’t hold an interest for, there are actually multiple things that does drive the strength-loving warrior to pay attention to him.
One is of course, Abuto. This guy has absolutely no care for any other race other than his own, but strangely enough, he’s incredibly fond of the human Shinpachi. Abuto, strangely for Kamui, treats Shinpachi like a delicate, domesticated animal to a genuine friend quickly later on. Kamui is just absolutely baffled by this. All of this is because Abuto has seen the best of Shinpachi during the Yoshiwara Arc and the great influence he is for Kagura. He had seen this come to light again when both kids fought Kamui in his beast Yato mode. But Abuto is keeping his reasons vague because he doubts Kamui could understand and also fears that Kamui may do something stupidly violent to Shinpachi out of curiosity. Abuto does his best to convince Kamui that Shinpachi will always remain weak, thus never will be worthy of an opponent so nothing bad happens. But Kamui has known Abuto for years, so he knows what’s up, but it still baffles him.
Another one is Shinpachi’s motherly role in the Yorozuya. There are other females that Kagura look up to and Otae seemed to be the closest older female role model his sister has, but Otae gives out more of an older sister demeanor. Shinpachi on the other hand is like a mother with how he can actually properly do household chores, is annoyingly naggy and strict yet patient and loving with Gintoki and Kagura despite their heinous attitudes, and does those mom phrases such as ‘It’s alright but for when you’re married...” or “Okay, but your future kids...”. Kamui is unsure of how to feel about this, especially when Kagura offhandedly called the megane “Mommy!”. It may have been just for fun, but it actually makes Kamui uncomfortable. Not because it feels like Kagura was replacing their mother, but because Kamui wants to join in, too.
Third is Shinpachi’s straight-man attitude. Like everyone else, it makes Kamui want to act stupid for fun since his reactions are humorous. He also likes to scare Shinpachi like the little shit he is.
Shinpachi does want to keep his distance from Kamui, but he honestly can’t help wanting to take care of Kamui the same way he does for Kagura despite the yato being two years his senior. He knows about the bad conditions that both red head siblings went through, and he wants to do things to make up for having to go through that. He knows better than to act out of sympathy, but he wants Kamui to be able to feel like he’s come home to a place he can be happy and comfortable with his little sister. He will go out of his way to make the yorozuya home extra clean and well stocked with tissues, create delicious meals, and think of fun activities to do so the yato siblings got to know each other better. Gintoki finds his efforts to be ridiculous since Kamui seemed to be the type to not care for those sort of things. And Kamui actually doesn’t notice his efforts at all, but that’s because he never thought much effort was put into his visits. He thought Shinpachi did what he did with anyone else that visited. But when he is told by someone the truth, Kamui laughs at the pointless efforts since he’ll never consider such a tiny place to be home, but deep down he’s really touched. Shinpachi still continues to put in the effort even if Kamui didn’t appreciate it. He believed the pirate would come around eventually.
The first one to actually realize he’s in love is Kamui around the third year or so, but he quickly drives himself into denial because he’s seen what love has done to the people around him: His mother sacrificed her life, his father abandoned his family, and Housen became weak.
But even if he denies it to himself, his actions betray those thoughts.
His body pulls him to protect Shinpachi or what he cares for when he is in need.
His feet would walk themselves to the Shimura’s dojo and somehow finds Shinpachi’s bedroom window
His hands are far gentler when they hold the samurai, his head dips down to use Shinpachi’s lap as a pillow
And he can’t help looking through the crowd for him.
He knows he shouldn’t be doing this, but his body will always betray him. Shinpachi doesn’t really mind. He does find Kamui using his lap to be a little inappropriate because that’s something couples should do, but he can’t help wanting to spoil him.
Abuto is the only one to realize Kamui’s feelings for Shinpachi, and it was somewhat of a surprise since he did think once that Shinpachi was someone suitable for the idiot captain. He honestly can’t see how the relationship will turn out, but life was a matter of choices, and this wasn’t his to make. He tells himself that he wouldn’t interfere, but when he’s given the opportunity like hinting at Shinpachi of how important he is to Kamui or when it’s not awkward to encourage Kamui to be with Shinpachi, he’ll take it.
Shinpachi is completely oblivious to Kamui’s feelings. He believes the attention he’s receiving and being protected is all because he’s Kagura’s dear friend. But Shinpachi does develop feelings for Kamui a year after the yato when he comes to the realization that he’s been thinking of Kamui nonstop. Like even when he’s hearing Otsuu music, his thoughts are on the violent Yato. His heart is doing flops and he catches himself staring up at the sky more often than not. He shocks himself for feeling this way, but in the end, he accepts it, but hides it as best as he can because he doubts Kamui feels the same way. Plus, he didn’t want to get in between Kagura’s happiness.
Gintoki and Kagura notices this, but they’re still socially awkward so they don’t know how to get Shinpachi to admit what’s wrong when he’s usually straightforward about it or evidence is laid out. They never imagine that it’s because he’s fallen for Kamui until the yato made his visit. Needless to say, they were in denial. Even when Abuto confirmed their suspicions.
Kagura was immediately against this because as much as she loves her brother, she doesn’t like the idea of Shinpachi being taken away from her. Not because she has feelings for Shinpachi (though she kinda low key does but is very much in denial like everyone else who has feelings for Shinpachi.) It’s because Shinpachi means so much to her, even when she doesn’t show it. All throughout her childhood, she’s been abandoned by the men in her life and made to grow up in order to take care of her sickly mother. But Shinpachi on the very first day they met, chose not to abandon her when she was in need, and even chose not to when he’s seen her at her worst. He also encourages and treats her like the kid and lady she is when it’s appropriate, always taking into consideration of her own feelings and wants. She doesn’t want her clumsy brother to take that away to space or hurt him. But as someone who loves the both of them greatly, she’ll let them be even if it terrifies and hurts her.
Gintoki with Kagura will act like little shits who try to split them apart and prevent any romantic moments from happening. But when their tries prove to br fruitless and Gintoki comes to qualms with it, he’ll say that if Patsuan and the violent freak does get together, it’ll be troublesome but none of their business. They just had to be supportive. Yet deep down, he’s super worried like the dad he is.
When Umibouzo came to visit on the same day as Kamui, he realizes it immediately by how the two interact. He’s beyond shock and interrogates Gintoki and Abuto about how could they let this happen to the kids. He’s also super worried about Shinpachi because the kid is frail as hell to him. No way he’ll survive his sadistic son. Kagura beats him down, berates him, and orders him to be supportive of this relationship even if it does look like a truck on fire is about to run over a deer.
While everyone is trying to keep their foot out of this, Otae with Kondo puts both feet in to interrogate Kamui about his feelings out of curiosity by inviting him to dinner. They start out subtle but very suspicious that it makes Shinpachi and Kamui confused. Gintoki, Kagura, Umibouzo, Sarutobi (who’s stalking Gin like usual) the shinsengumi, and the yato pirates ambushes this dinner that turns into a fight that turns into a roast for Kamui and Shinpachi. Both of them are annoyed by this fight, and Kamui wants to beat them all to death, but Shinpachi just pulls him away since that wouldn’t solve anything. Plus it looks like they forgot what they were fighting about in the first place.
The two talk about what was going on, having heard that they all thought the two were dating. They both deny such a silly thing, and talk about how it wouldn’t work out, but they also talk about how it could work out. Kamui even admit to the fears he has at the very idea of love such as how he’ll become weak and worse like his parents and Housen, but Shinpachi reminds him that he’s neither of those people and he has friends and loved ones who won’t let him become that way. It then leads to Shinpachi confessing about how happy he is when Kamui does come visit and talks about Kagura. Kamui asks if Shinpachi is in love with Kagura, which the samurai denies. Kamui then asked if he was in love with anyone, which Shinpachi shyly answers he is. Hearing this, Kamui kisses him. Shinpachi kisses back, and they both confess to being in love with the other.
Nobody is happy about this after they all landed in the hospital. But the two are too in love to care.
The two are just straight up lovey-dovey with each other. They treat each other like royalty. Kamui would buy Shinpachi what he likes or pass business calls to Abuto if Shinpachi is trying to reach him, even if it’s just so the megane could complain to someone or fangirl about Otsuu. Shinpachi on his end continues to make sure Kamui comes home to a clean place with delicious food on the table, and tend to his other needs like give a massage or brush his hair. Everyone hates them for this and regrets helping them get together.
Kamui’s henchmen actually like Shinpachi a lot even if he is plain. That’s because Shinpachi takes the time to know each of them without a motive, acts supportive of their individual dreams, and will console them without laughter while also being no push-over. They all refer Shinpachi as “Co-captain”.
Kamui like many other people find Shinpachi’s training or cleaning to actually be relaxing to watch.
Kamui’s nickname for Shinpachi is “Turtle” (related to the hare and the turtle story) and he says it’s because Shinpachi’s slow in growing strong. But it’s also because Kamui knows he’s also someone with strong endurance and perseverance, so he’s not to be underestimated.
Kamui is like low key Yandere. He won’t kill someone just for being close with Shinpachi, but if he hears of someone having been physically intimate with his man or is attracted to Shinpachi, he will make sure that person remains out of Shinpachi’s life.
Kirara is not counted since the attraction was only one-sided for the wrong person, and they remained only friends afterwards.
Eromes hadn’t been seen since, and probably won’t ever again.
One day, Gedoumaru informed the Yorozuya that the Pandemonium snack went extinct because some crazy demon with red hair went crazy in the demon world and completely obliterated the hive.
When Kamui REALLY screws up in their relationship, the enraged Shinpachi will give the ultimate punishment against the strongest person in the universe: The Silent-treatment.
After hearing the Pandemonium extinction, Shinpachi interrogates Kamui over a face-chat, and the pirate admits it. Shinpachi then just completely ignores his existence or treats him like an annoying bug. Kamui is completely annoyed by this that he becomes far more violent, but Shinpachi stubbornly remains silent even after he is threatened or coaxed with Otsuu merchandise to stop it. It’s not until Kamui had turned apathetic himself, that he accidentally got hurt during a battle. Shinpachi does acknowledge him then, but he tells the patient it’s only for a short while. Kamui then gives in and apologizes sincerely for his actions. Shinpachi doesn’t accept it because he won’t give Kamui any free passes to do that again and threatens to end this relationship if he does something like that again, but he will drop the silent treatment and the two are lovey dovey again.
Kamui would be willing to remain on earth for a week or two while Shinpachi would travel with Kamui for a few months with the yorozuya when they have the time.
They are each other’s first time with sex since Kamui has no interest in that, and Shinpachi is both hopeless and a lot more cautious with it after the Eromes incident.
Kamui is demisexual (asexual-leaning) while Shinpachi is bisexual (Hetero-leaning), and both are panromantic.
Shinpachi didn’t want to push Kamui to do something he isn’t comfortable or interested in doing. But Kamui reassures Shinpachi that this is something he wants to do. It’s true that he’s not too interested in sex, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand how special it is for Shinpachi, and he wants to be the only one to do something this private with him. Shinpachi is still not sure about it because he doesn’t want to be the only one who enjoys himself, and he’s scared that he may show a side of himself that will gross Kamui out. The pirate reminds him that he’s seen Shinpachi in very embarrassing positions before, and if something like this can ruin it, then they’re not meant to be. He wants Shinpachi to do what he likes and be happy. He may not enjoy it for the same reasons Shinpachi does it, but he definitely enjoys Shinpachi.
For the bottom and top position, Kamui was fine with either of them. Shinpachi is flustered by being the one to choose, and he has absolutely no confidence to top, so he chooses to be the bottom.
Their first time is very gentle. They set down rules and a safe word. ABSOLUTELY NO HAIR PULLING! Shinpachi prepares himself first before they take it to the bed where they both awkwardly try to figure out where their good spots are. It takes awhile before Shinpachi stops being tense and starts feeling good.
Kamui is very well-endowed that the preparation is long until Shinpachi actually yearns for something larger. When the penetration start, Shinpachi does it cowboy style, so he can control how much he will allow inside him.
Kamui actually enjoys it, not so much because of the pleasure, but because of the absolute intimacy he has with Shinpachi. He’s the only one who’s seen the megane lose himself to the throes of pleasure when Kamui hits his prostrate head on vigorously. When Shinpachi asks if he feels good, he answers honestly that he does. And Shinpachi is glad, especially when Kamui orgasms with him.
Shinpachi does start off shy and adorable, but as times go by, he actually gets a lot more kinkier and dirty underneath the sheets, and Kamui just laps this up because it’s their dirty secret.
The two actually have a wedding ceremony together because Shinpachi had actually dreamed of getting married someday and having a family. Except he’s marrying another man and he adopts human and amanto children with Kamui.
Kamui continues to be a pirate until he reaches close to his seventies, and chooses to spend the rest of his life on Earth with Shinpachi who handed the dojo to one of their adopted children.
I haven't written anything of Gintama in awhile but one of the things I loved to think about the most when I was in my gintama/ginhiji brainstorming phase is the idea of a Kamui x Shinpachi ship
I know, they barely interacted in canon. The one time they did was in the Rakuyo arc but it still got me interested in the idea of them. I just think their personalities and connection to Kagura could be a good mesh
And I really, really wanna explore KamuShin one day in a fic of their own
Imma build this crack/rare ship from the ground up and if its just gonna be me on it by my lonesome, then that's okay
