[Cam had felt bad leaving Lemon to go home by herself, but he'd promised Kaleb he could bring Wyatt over for a movie night after work, since Wyatt had the next day off. And he was determined to have a good relationship with at least one of his best friend's boyfriends. It helped that Wyatt seemed to be a decent human being... who also liked movies.
They were between movies right now and Cam was taking a bathroom break while Kaleb made more popcorn. He was finishing up washing his hands when the notification popped up and he smiled. He could at least take a minute to give Lemon a little attention. He hit the play button and held it up to his ear.
The second it started playing, he knew he should end it and put the phone away. It was clearly, most definitely, not meant for him. And yet he stood there, staring at himself in the mirror with the phone still held to his ear. He just couldn't seem to help himself. It's not like he'd never heard Lemon in this state before, but this was blissfully uninterrupted by anyone else.
Then she kept talking. And as soon as those two words fell out of her mouth, Cam's eyes rolled back in his head.] Fuck... [Oh, he should not be doing this. He was frozen though, images flashing through his mind as the rest of the message played. His chest rose with heavy breaths as he set the phone down on his bathroom counter. He couldn't very well go back out there now!
He just needed to calm himself down. He blinked a couple times as the room started to tilt on him.] No, no. Not now. Fuck, my entire body is betraying me. Get it together.
[Cam closed his eyes and tried to think of the most mundane things possible. But his thoughts drifted back to Lemon, though they weren't strictly sexual. He thought about that day they'd spent together going around the city, visiting her mom's tree. How he'd felt more happy that day than he had in a long time. Lemon always managed to make him happy, even when she was frustrated with him. When she was desperately trying to get him to take care of himself because... she cared about him. When she'd shouted at him that he was her person. He thought about her on stage, all bubbly and beautiful and perfect.
Cam's hand came up to his chest, his heart racing so hard he swore he could feel it right through his t-shirt. Why were his ears ringing? He slowly opened his eyes, looking at a blurry version of his reflection.]
Oh. Oh my god...
[He whispered right before everything went black.]
