Thoughts on Tokyo Ghoul:re Chapter 6
Hey guys, back again to bring you another chapter of Tokyo Ghoul:re. So let's get into it.
Chapter 6: A Bad Gamble for the Possessed
S-rated Ghoul Serpent has appeared. The theories of Serpent = Nishiki is highly possible. I don't want to say I'm 100% certain because this is Ishida-sensei and he likes to tease us whenever possible. But there are some connections as to why Serpent may very well be Nishiki:
Both Bikaku-type users, pictures have shown their kagune design are similar.
Serpent's talking style is very similar to Nishiki.
Serpent using kicks, Nishiki also used a lot of kicks.
Someone brought up that Nishiki was properly introduced in Chapter 6 of TG, which may parallel to this chapter.
In the artbook Zakki, Nishiki is seen wearing a snake-themed mask.
Serpent going after Torso may be a way for him to protect (or avenge?) Kimi, since she is a female with a scar on her shoulder.
With all these connections, I want to wait until Ishida-sensei says so. I will say that if it is him, Nishiki must have trained his butt off to be S-rated. Serpent is ragdolling Urie around and Mutsuki and Shirazu decides to retreat for now. We get more backstory to Urie and why he's so high bent on promotion. Before Serpent could land the final blow, Sasaki arrives in time to save his squad. There was also someone hiding behind the cars in a trench coat, is that Torso or someone else?
Sasaki's quinque is no match for Serpent and we finally see the pages which every TG reader was waiting for... KANEKI! Now there are many possibilities as to how Sasaki and Kaneki are connected but I believe it's either that Sasaki and Kaneki are one of the same and Sasaki completely blocked out his ghoul side or Kaneki's kakuhou was transplated inside Sasaki, I'm leaning more towards the former.
Sasaki asks Mutsuki to call Akira, as he may need someone to stop him from going berserk, and releases his kagune with the signature finger crack. Such a cliffhanger.
