there's a point in this about 30 minutes in where they show court footage of the state trooper investigating a woman for the potential murder of her cop bf, and the lawyer just. my god. he presents the witness' text chain in the most insane way that just triple punches you after the trooper saying no this isn't about the other suspect being a cop like 5+ times
bc over and over it's no he didn't know it's a cop. bc he knew it wasn't the homeowner. who happened to be a cop.
and the lawyer reads the next like dozen texts rapid fire in which the trooper says no the homeowner won't get shit, because he's a boston cop too, zero fucking chance she skates, 'is she hot?' yeah she's a babe, weird accent though and no ass, laughing emoji
and then you're like damn... that's bad 😬 and the lawyer KEEPS GOING, because he then prompts the trooper to explain to the jury what he meant when he said the defendant had a 'leaky balloon knot'

In case you haven't heard, this is a case that has (allegedly) unearthed deeply seated corruption among Massachusetts State Police and Canton police department. Originally, Karen Read was accused by police of murdering her then boyfriend, John O'Keefe. Karen has been found not guilty and has filed a lawsuit of her own.
Quick summary:
One night Karen Read ("Read") and her then boyfriend police officer John O'Keefe ("O'Keefe") were out with friends. Read dropped O'Keefe off at retired-officer Albert's house. The allegations from police is that Read hit O'Keefe with her car and that is what killed him, that O'Keefe never even went inside the house. Counter alleges that O'Keefe was killed by people that were at the house and then left him out in the cold to be found by her when she picked him up. The detail that sticks out to me is there are dog bite marks on O'Keefe that only would have happened if he had been in the house that the now defendants are claiming he never set foot in.

In June 2025, Karen Read was fully acquitted of every criminal charge associated with the death of John O’Keefe. But the fight to rebuild her life—and to hold accountable those who contributed to her wrongful prosecution—is far from over.
Karen is now facing two major civil battles:
Defending herself against the O’Keefe family’s lawsuit, and
Pursuing her own affirmative lawsuit against the individuals and agencies whose actions contributed to the false allegations, botched investigation, and years of devastation she endured.
While limited costs are covered by her auto insurance policy as it relates to the O’Keefe suit, Karen is responsible for all costs and expenses associated with her affirmative case, including attorney’s fees, expert costs, litigation expenses, and support for the separate legal team she must assemble to coordinate with the insurance lawyers.
The false criminal charges and two long trials cost Karen her job, her teaching career, her savings, her retirement, and her home. Karen’s pursuit of justice continues, and as we have already witnessed over the course of two lengthy trials, this quest demands significant resources.
