Karkoff is the captain of a pirate ship- your typical charismatic sort, living fashionably and larger than life with a lax rule over her crew. Years back she lost her vision, going completely blind (and using her Manticore Screamer, Barbaro, as a morse code-capable guide animal), but maintained her position as- not a feared, but certainly a notorious pirate. Getting into her early forties, she's not all that old, but piracy's losing its charm. She and her crew don't need it to get by anymore, so most of their time is now spent spending nights in port towns and such. It could almost make someone think she's looking to retire... Or at least take real long break.
Ahoy!
My lair's own fearless, feisty, fashion-forward, flawless, and, uh- *flips through dictionary* -fabulous pirate crew, for talk like a pirate day!
Captain Karkoff has always provided a welcome ship for dragons of all walks of life... Which, somehow, has led to a crew entirely comprised of fellow trans women (alongside eager genderfluid cook Bobbie, who they've been told is a demon, and sometimes a guy, but love nonetheless)- which suits them all just fine. However, the crew's pirating days almost seem to be coming to an end, with swordfights and ship battles dwindling in exchange for hitting up port cities and beaches with their abundant remaining riches.
With the topic of the day being pirates, any and all questions about the crew and its members would be appreciated!
oh shoot I still haven't messaged the owner of Karkoff's parents about the pair's lore. it's like something where the mom raises the daughters to be trained one way and the dad trains the sons another way. which. obviously that could go... a couple ways, considering the circumstances
either way Karkoff did run away at some point. would rather be a pirate on her own terms than a warrior on anyone else's. which, not the best goal for someone starting out with Murderous Pirates, but she managed. got a cool ass ship and some nice crew members on account of not threatening to kill them and dating someone with connections
Gangreen and Karkoff?
Hm... I just don't think anything would make these two "click."
Karkoff at her most genuine would feel pretty deflated by Gangrene- he doesn't have very strong reactions to anything, and Karkoff absolutely thrives off of going back-and-forth with others. In a relationship (and even close friendships), she wants someone who can either keep up, put her in her place, or just isn't afraid to show off an equally strong personality. Karkoff jokes, and brags, and can easily talk herself into trouble... And that's just not the sort of person Gangrene hangs out with. He's certainly not got anything against it, it's just not his vibe.
Gangrene is just reserved, if not distant and borderline eerie at times. (Though the latter comes more from being a hemomancer, and from whatever his affliction is... Anyone close to Gangrene wouldn't think of him as "eerie.") Unlike Karkoff, he's almost always in his "professional mode," but, like Karkoff... It's not really all that different from his genuine self. But, Gangrene isn't opposed to being in a relationship, he's just... well, as said, he has a tendency to unsettle others for reasons beyond his control, really. Luckily, Karkoff wouldn't actually be one to judge him, and would probably give him plenty of respect for combatting the Shade. So, they wouldn't really be much if they were dating, or even as friends, but they could probably manage fine in a group setting together. Which, fittingly, is what Gangrene has with the druids, and what Karkoff has with her crew.
I actually think Karkoff might prefer to introduce Gangrene to someone a little more his speed... Someone equally passionate about their craft or hobby or what have you, and who's also a little quieter, just as non-judgmental, and can easily talk to most people that can't really "keep up" with Karkoff. But that's just speculation ;)
Karkoff is now fully dressed! My favorite gaudy butch captain, now more powerful than ever as she enters her final form.
Also here's Karkoff in case yall don't remember her... suave, gaudy and butch pirate captain.
im thinking abt older butches sooooo Karkoff :)
gosh aren't we all
Pros of dating her:
- honestly there's no better pirate to date than the one who isn't really risking their life anymore, but is still charismatic and a little rich. like, she's set, and you can be too
- she's a compliment machine honestly. keeps 'em coming like there's no tomorrow
- might be a flirt but she's a flirt with a PURPOSE. she's in for the long haul if it feels right
- wanna read in bed with the light on or something? nbd. she literally can't tell if you're doing that
Cons of dating her:
- yes, you must earn the little manticore's favor. if it does not like you, then Karkoff does not like you. simple as that
- lots of folks on the ship, so privacy might be better reserved for elsewhere
- listen if your lip gets cut on her fangs while kissin' that's not on her. just consider it a perk. a memento, even
- she knows the somewhat unbuttoned flowy pirate shirt look is sexy. now, in more casual scenarios, she refuses to change the look once she's set on it. this happens alot
