Hey there! I'm Drake, otherwise known as proud Plague member Drakessis (ID #408680) on Flight Rising and Dragon Cave. This is primarily an FR blog, but it's also my general dragons blog, and usually just serves as a place for me to ramble on about my OCs as well as nothing in particular. If you see a follow, like, or reply from @drakessimblr, that's me! I have art/writing (#drakeart) and OC (#drakefr) tags, and my characters are tagged according to their names. it's so funny when fandoms act surprised about an actor/creator/etc. being aware of the shipping content they make because like. I dare you to go into any tag for any relevant media on any website and NOT see shipping content. and predominantly shipping content, at that. like. does anyone actually think it's hard to find

I might be wrong but wasn't Maneater hatched before the eye update too? So she's a nat primal? Cause if so that makes her even cooler imo

She is! Her dragon hatched September 27th, 2019, and I bought her on November 30th, 2019. Eye update was in 2021.

Also, I've mentioned this before, but she came with the name Maneater. I just spiraled her character off from there.

As a touch more propaganda, here's a showcase of art featuring Maneater's non-primal design, which I don't usually share here. (With the last piece here being by @iniquity-fr!)

The design was originally just for other settings' versions of Maneater, buuuuut I eventually folded it into her main version because I loved it that much.

And, as a treat, a slightly gory ramble about her design below the cut.

A tattoo pays homage to her concealed eyes, though perhaps more subtly alluding to the mass is the ptosis in her right eye, indicating some degree of nerve damage caused by the constant presence of that muscular, dormant visage interlaced with sinus and muscle and skull. When the mass creeps out, it's through her tear ducts— painlessly, though obviously not bloodlessly. It rests naturally on her face, but it can also detach, and slither off to accomplish violent ends elsewhere. When it fades, it melds back into any part of her body, ready to reemerge at any moment.

Maneater also has a rapid healing factor, with dark sinews drawing wounds closed, even at her active expense— her medic and right hand, Cassiopeia, doesn't keep a broad knife on hand solely for the sake of intimidation or self-defense. Bullets and shrapnel will quickly heal into Maneater's body if the wound isn't exacerbated, if the material isn't dug out. Her own retractable claws have done the work before. She prefers the knife.

The rest of Maneater's magical capabilities are left up to wild speculation and rumor. Though, unlike most powerful users, hers don't seem to be particularly refined or taught— rather, they come naturally, instinctively. A perfectly integrated mutation.
