Hi this is probably a bit random but can I ask you spam some Karley headcanons at me?
Hey nonny! I am more than happy to shower love on Mr. Karley, my underloved background son.
-Ever since the mission in Sloth’s tunnel, he can’t stand the dark, and tends to get panicky if left in total darkness too long.
-Is literally the worst gossip monger. He works in communications, so he learns a lot of things others might not, and beyond that has a talent for for snooping up good tidbits. He can be bribed easily with juicy gossip.
-However, he is also very careful with the information and tidbits he gets, and what exactly he spreads. After all, loose lips sink ships, and there are some secrets that are much better to keep under wraps, for everyone’s safety. He’s not the sort of guy to out people or relationships or deeply personal things.
-Will not hesitate to make up fake gossip just to see who buys it though, especially if the target has earned his ire.
-Because of his talents in handling information, he’s actually run quite a few intel operations for the General, and gotten himself a good reputation for it. He handles a small team of former Drachman Spies who now act as double agents, and were critical in the defense against Drachma that carved the seal of blood.
-Really likes dogs, actually, but doesn’t have a pet because of his military post and life. Some day, when he retires, he plans on adopting one though.
-Is honestly a bit of a trouble maker and prankster. He tends to be sassy and talking back has earned him more than several punishments over his military career. It’s part of the reason he was sent to Briggs as he was “difficult to work with” and his “insubordination is a liability”.
-He’s lucky in that Olivier, while being harsh as the Briggs ice, also appreciates men who can speak their minds fearlessly. He respects her deeply however, and doesn’t typically talk back to her. Same with Miles or Buccaneer. They’ve all proven themselves to each other as solid members of a team.
-That said, he will not hesitate to engage in snark battles with them, or anyone. Briggsmen become well known for their sharp tongues as well as their sharp field skills after East/North joint training.
-A fan of music in general. On nights where the crew is more able to relax (at least as much as is possible in a military fort) He likes to share records he’s has sent to him, or brought back from leave. He’s absolutely thrilled when other men start showing up with music of their own, from different regions of Amestris.
-Is absolutely delighted when post promised day, Miles invites him to a concert of traditional Ishvallan music, and offers to help Miles and co. preserve it.
-I headcanon him as being a gay man, but he’s always put his duty and job before any potential romance. While I see Amestris being more open about issues of gender and sexuality, the military itself seems very.... conservative. He wouldn’t want to put that stress on any potential partner, not with him already being at Briggs.
-In the aftermath of the promised day, he ended up being vital as a support member, keeping the different forces in contact, and communications lines running. He had a lot of help from Kain Fuery and the other members of team mustang, and ended up getting a better understanding of them than most of the other Briggsmen.
-This is self indulgent, but, I also feel during those months, he developed a close relationship with Fuery, though it was a bit unexpected on both ends. They ground each other after everything they’ve seen. Before, they’d been friends, again, due to their similar roles, and time spent together during North/East training, but neither realised quite how deep that friendship would grow if given the right conditions.
-Post-Promised Day, he returns to the north, and gets a promotion (or two), and serves loyally at Olivier’s side for a time, especially as the fort recovers from its losses. It hurts in a lot of ways, as he’s more aware now of everything he has to lose, but he’s also more determined than ever to do his duty and protect the nation.
-Eventually, his reputation as an information master spreads to the new high command, and with Olivier’s encouragement, he transfers to Central and becomes a keystone of Amestris’ spy network. He always remains loyal to Briggs at heart, but at the same time, loves his new work, especially as it gives him the opportunity to finally live life a little more comfortably, and for himself, instead for just the sake of duty.
Sorry for all the rambling, haha... I’d love to talk about modern!Karley too, but this post is already out of hand, lol
