"This isn't exactly what I had in mind." Karai with Rose Huntsgirl. Or just April herself!
Karai saw April head through one of the Kraang’s alternate dimension portals and started running after her when it suddenly disappeared. She frowned, but another one appeared right in the same place a few seconds later, so, under the assumption that it would lead to the same place, Karai jumped through.
Arriving on the other side, Karai glared. It was New York City, clearly, so she seemed to have arrived in the right place. But there were a lot more people than she was used to. What happened?
She hopped from one roof to the other a few times before hearing a familiar voice in the distance.
"I’ll see you later, Jake!"
Karai turned in the direction of that voice. That was definitely April. Maybe the dimension hopping made her skip forward in time, and April was at school or something? That’d make sense. She hopped to the edge of a rooftop over where she’d heard O’Neil’s voice and looked down, seeing a teenage-looking girl with a hoodie on. Couldn’t see her hair, but Karai was pretty confident.
So as the girl turned the corner into an alley, clearly trying to take a shortcut home, Karai jumped down to corner her. “Hey there, Princess.”
The girl immediately jumped and stepped back, getting into a fighting position as the hood of her jacket fell down, wavy blonde hair spilling over her shoulders. “Who are you?!”
Karai stopped. This…was not April. But she had April’s voice. “This isn’t exactly what I had in mind. Who are you?”
"What?" The girl stood up straight. "I asked you first!"
Karai shook her head. “Fine, yeah, whatever. My name is Karai. Why do you sound exactly like April O’Neil?”
"…my name is Rose," Rose finally said. "I have no idea who you’re talking about."
The Foot kunoichi crossed her arms. Where the hell was she? “Did you seen a redhead in a yellow shirt run by? Anytime recently?”
Rose raised an eyebrow. “No, I didn-” She jumped as her cell phone started to ring. She reached down and picked it up. “Hel-?”
"Huntsgirl!"
Karai could clearly hear a strict, masculine voice come out of the phone.
Rose cleared her throat and turned to the side. “Yes, Huntsmaster?”
"What’s taking you so long? 88 and 89 returned from school minutes ago. You have never arrived later than them."
"I’m sorry, Master. I was…cornered in an alleyway. I’ll be home soon."
"Take care of it quickly, Huntsgirl."
Karai smirked. ‘Huntsgirl.’ That sounded very…cliché. But that would explain the fighting stance this blonde went into when she’d first seen Karai drop down.
"Um…" Rose looked back at Karai. "Sorry about your friend. I hope you can find her. But I’ve gotta go," she said, walking past Karai.
Karai shrugged. “I’m sure she’s around here somewhere. Have fun with training, Huntsgirl.”
Rose frowned and looked back, only to see that Karai was gone. Hopefully she wouldn’t tell anyone what she’d just heard, or Rose would be in some serious trouble.
