Kasimir Velikov:

A black walnut base (deeply bitter, astringent, difficult to approach, but richness underneath).

Baked pear pieces (soft, fresh, alive running through the bitterness - pear is gentle, hopeful where the base is exhausted).

Walnuts in syrup as a topping (preserved, suspended in time).

Honey drizzle (the memory of his people as they were, communal and golden)

Rustic waffle bowl (his life in Barovia, weathered, jagged at the edges, but still holding everything together through sheer stubborn endurance).

Kasimir and Rorik

Kasimir Velikov is sooo dear to me. The first time I ran COS, he was the party's destined ally. We didn't get very far in the campaign before life got in the way, but I did a lot of writing for Kasimir's backstory and hope to utilize them in my current game instead. They have such a fascinating plot hook, it's a shame they get overlooked so much. Rorik is my replacement for the Mad Mage since I am not a huge fan of Mordenkainen's story in COS. Especially since my current group's destined ally is the Mad Mage. So Rorik's setup is the same as Mordenkainen with a different backstory and personality. :)

Okay, I'm a little late with this but I was sick and now I'm catching up!

I love Kasimir and Patrina story but unfortunalely in my game we didn't really do anything with it (because we didn't know about what he wanted to do) and our characters realized something was going on when it was too late for him :(

I had a scene right after he signed the pact in the Amber Temple

My paladin: (detects the undead) On Ilmater! What have you done! You are dead now!

Kasimir: What? No, I'm not

My paladin: Yes, you are! I feel it with my sense!
