Another fact about Kataang:

Here's a very interesting kataang reference from the Earth Kingdom Chronicles, we probably didn't notice!
Back in the show from 'The Guru' episode, Aang said :
"Why would I let go of Katara, I love her"
Thankfully with the Earth Kingdom Chronicles, we get to explore more of Katara's inner thoughts and from 'The Desert' episode :
"After everything he's done, everything he's meant to me, I am not letting go"
Katara, eventually cannot let go of Aang as well but it was pretty obvious in the show that they both cannot detach themselves from each other, they've a very deep connection, but this awesome detail add a lot to their relationship.
Aang in the first place, is not letting go as an act of selfishness as he appreciates his friendship with Katara, he values this connection they have together. Plus, by learning that Katara is the reincarnation of the love of his people, this added something more meaningful to him over cosmic energy.
And for Katara, she is not letting go as an act of selflessness since unlike the others, she's overcoming her fears of the Avatar State to comfort her friend, she's showing to Aang that his feelings are valid after losing his best friend, this is more important to her over protecting herself.
This is another description of how they balance each other in many ways, one for being selfish of not letting go and one for being selfless! This is soulmatism.
Kataang week day 1: height difference
I’m really excited to start off kataang week with one of my favourite aspects of their relationship!
One of the best parts of there relationship is the fact that both of them get to experience being the tallest and shortest one in the relationship:
In the fortune teller, Katara says that she would like a tall husband
Which in the end she does get since Aang end up being the tallest of the whole gaang
However I like to think that Katara couldn’t help but feeling a bit disappointed when Aang finally passed her. I feel like she would of liked and gotten used to being the tallest in their relationship.
Anyways I think it’s really nice that Aang and Katara grew together. They got to experience both sides of the relationship which many couples don’t really get to do
@kataang-week
Why Kataang fits so well.
“Katara and Aang’s relationship wasn’t necessary for the show”
This is correct. This show was aired on a children’s channel as a Saturday morning show. Romance is usually regarded as a more “mature” topic for older kids, teens and adults. So a romantic subplot wasn’t necessary for the show.
But here’s why it fits;
This show is heavily focused around destiny, yin and yang/ balance, and team work. All things that the Kataang relationship encapsulated.
The show starts off with Katara monologuing about their world. She talks about the war and how the avatar vanished 100 years ago. But she still believes that he would one day return and save the world. Katara believes in Aang before she ever even knew who he was. She knew it was destined for him to return but there is no possible way she could’ve known she’d be the one to find him.
In the early scenes of the show, Katara is fuming at Sokka for his sexist remarks. This causes her to break the ice behind them freeing Aang from where he had been trapped for the past 100 years. She takes Sokka’s club and breaks Aang out of the ice. Aang stumbles out and lands in her arms. The avatar she has been believing in just falls out of an ice ball into her arms. The first face he sees in 100 years. She is instantly fascinated by him his tattoos and ability to airbend. She tells her grandmother that she senses he’s filled with much wisdom. She knew there was something special about him. After Aang is captured, her grandmother permits Katara and Sokka to go on a journey to find Aang and for Katara to learn waterbending. She says that “Your [Katara and Sokka’s] destinies are now intertwined with his.” Katara was destined to find Aang.
Katara and Aang set off to learn waterbending together. Though Katara is frustrated early on because of how quickly Aang progresses, she surpasses him and becomes his master. They practice and learn from each other as the series progresses. And work together using the best of their bending ablilities to defend and protect each other.
When Aunt Wu tells Katara her future she says she is going to marry a powerful bender. This bender, obviously being Aang due to the fact that he is the most powerful bender. But for Aang she didn’t actually see anything. She then tells him “Just as you have reshaped those clouds, you have the power to shape your own destiny” He and Katara shaped the clouds together. Just as they would end up. Continuing the destiny theme.
Tui and La. The ocean and moon spirits. Both waterbenders like Aang and Katara but one is in the sky as in air and the other is the water. Like Aang and Katara’s native elements. Yin and Yang imagery. Push and pull. Katara is shown in one of her first scenes acting out of anger. Breaking ice and shaking the water around them. Yelling and voicing her opinions loud and clear. She’s confrontational and uptight but smart and mature. Aang is shown to be calm and levelheaded. Giving himself up to avoid further conflict between the village and Zuko. Avoidant and childish. Tranquil and decisive. Opposites. Tui and La, Yin and Yang. Another motif throughout the show. They balance each other out. Aang is able to show Katara how to be more passive and how to loosen up. Katara shows Aang how to be more mature and to face things head on. A balancing act if you will.
Katara and Aang are the last of their kind. Aang is the last Airbender, as the show is titled and Katara is the last water bender of the southern water tribe. They both have the huge responsibility of passing on their bending/culture to future generations to come. And they do it together. They have three kids and raise wonderful family together. After all of the hate in the world, the deaths of those they love, and the violence that they watched, they are able to find love in each other. Being each other’s hope and guidance through such tough times. And that’s why I believe they are soulmates that fit perfectly within the world they saved. Together.
Anti Kataangers will go on and on about how Aang was too young for Katara but still expect him to have have the emotional intelligence of an adult
He almost does.
If anything, Katara's the one who made this scene complicated...even if Aang shouldn't have (understandably) kissed her there, which is acknowledged and challenged.
Anyways, all their arguments rely on proving just how poorly written Kataang was instead of trying to understand why it was written that way as one would since they care about authorial intent (sarcasm: because people come to different interpretations and recognize that of course, as if that's not a reflection on themselves instead of the actual text, you know, especially when you take in the ending of their making out into the sunset). Even though the matter of a story aspect being well written or not is completely subjective as a lot of things are in the art of storytelling.
Another thing, a story could technically be written badly but still effectively influence and/or inspire someone anyways as you know...everyone's different and what they vibe with or don't is exactly that too.
Unique.
One of a kind.
Special.
In this particular form of creative expression, you just can't please everyone unless you influence them to fill in gaps to the highest extent of their imagination to give one the illusion of that particular aspect being fleshed out (I.e alluding to subtext that so much of fanon profits off of).
One of best 🧵 of Twitter about Kataang is showing Katara have romantic interest to Aang and the relationship never was one-sided:
What do you think of this?
https://www.tumblr.com/sokkastyles/659894517181382656/people-usually-says-that-katara-and-aang-are-best?source=share
That post confirms one thing I always say:
Zutara shippers are the joke of the fandom and the trash.
“Aang don’t understand Katara and she know it”
Bruh, did you see the show?
She even thanks him for understand her. And Zuko recognizes Aang was right about what Katara needed. (Means Aang really understands Katara)
And Aang knows what Katara feels, pain and rage (or what she was feeling then)
“Katara never show her truth self to Aang”
That show this idiots don’t know about Katara, she never pretend to be anyone he don’t, she show what actually she feels (rage when Pakku say will not teach Katara for being a girl, in love when she want kiss Aang in Cave of Two Lovers or very helpful person when she want help the people of Lady Painted episode)
“Katara must take care Aang”
Aang take care himself, he have very journeys in four nations and he is a very prodigious Air-Bender.
“Katara don’t have any help of Aang”
She literally say she feels don’t have another choose, but Aang try make her to see of course she can choose, she can forgive (obviously is not easy) and Aang know very well the pain of loss and the rage, and Aang say this:
Katara: “You are not going stop us”
Aang: “I’m not going to do that, you need take this journey and face this man.”
And about Katara going with Zuko, well, I don’t know, maybe is because…………………………. ZUKO IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNOWS ABOUT SOUTHER RAIDERS AND HOW LOCATE THEM!!!
And she was out herself for the pain and rage, she even say very hurtful to Sokka about their mother, so no, she was not showing her trust herself and what Zuko support Katara was the revenge and kill the man, and was not the solution, even Iroh say that:
So remember guys, zutara shippers are the fake fans of Avatar and must go the fandom.
Kataang analysis: Cave Of Two Lovers
One of most beautiful chapters of the series, unfortunately has been misunderstood or take out of context for many stupid people (zutara shippers and anti kataang people), in this analysis i will show the evidence to refute about anti kataang arguments.
First, let’s meet the writer of this chapter:
Joshua Halmiton
(Before you idiots tell me “Joshua say in the biblie zutara was planned”, is a lie, read the biblie here, and you will know the truth)
In Braving Element when Janet Varney (the Voice of Korra) ask him about the story of the chapter he was writting, Joshua answer this:
“When i was first pitching it, it was like some hippie nomads that were going to be a kind of help to Sokka. These guys were more about enjoying the journey.
Mike and Aaron and you know:
“I like the story but i feel like there has to be more.” You know the labyrinth in the tunnels and i think we needed to introduce the earth bending in the badger mold.
That felt like a story to me and you know i was young, they said no we need this, there should be another story in it. And i think also when we were in the tunnels, when i pitched it, they got separated and When I pitched it, that was they got separated and Aang And Katara ended up together and that’s sort of like we gotta push the love element of it.
To push it even further, they said, there should be a legend in there, i don’t remember who came up with it, I’m going to say it was me.”
1- Many idiots say the story of two lovers was for zutara, but (again) is a lie, Joshua confirms the two lovers was to make stronger Kataang.
2- Joshua was not forced write the Kataang moment, he already say it “And i think also when we were in the tunnels, when i pitched it, they got separated and When I pitched it, that was they got separated and Aang And Katara ended up together and that’s sort of like we gotta push the love element of it.”
He pitched the idea of Aang and Katara having a romantic moment.
3- When he say “we gotta push the love element of it” definitely show Aang and Katara have a romantic connection. (The meaning of push the love element of it is it means that you want to emphasize or highlight the love story in the plot. In this context, it refers to the romantic relationship between the characters Aang and Katara in the Avatar: The Last Airbender series. By “pushing” or giving more importance to the element of love, you seek to further develop and explore that relationship in the story).
Now about the romantic moment, look:
Many imbecile say Katara didn’t show any romantic feelings for Aang, so let’s see her dialogues.
Katara: I have a crazy idea.
Aang: What?
Katara: [Hesitant. Walks away, slightly embarrassed.] Never mind. It’s too crazy.
We can see she has a idea to get the cave but she was embarrassed and hesitant to say it, let’s see why?
Katara I was thinking ... the curse says we’ll be trapped in here forever unless we trust in love ...
Katara say trust in love is the only way to get out the cave, so she is thinking the love is the solution, so that show she is in love with Aang.
Katara [Turns to face him and gestures to the portrait.] And here, it says, “Love is brightest in the dark,” and has a picture of them kissing.
Katara is points out the picture of the lovers kissing, so she is saying the only way to show our love is kissing, is indirectly saying she want kiss Aang (And the poor Aang don’t understand she is saying “I want kiss you”)
Katara [Shyly, blushing.] Well, what if we ... kissed?
Is obviously, she was worried how Aang would react her idea and she want Aang agreed to kiss, and she was hoping to kiss him.
Katara [Fake-jokingly.] Us kissing. What was I thinking? Can you imagine that?
Come on, who you pretend to lie? Is very obvious you want Aang say “yes I want kiss you”
(And for all idiots say Katara didn’t want kiss Aang, when Aang say “I definitely don’t want kiss you”, look her reaction)
Katara [Insulted.] Oh, well! I didn’t realize it was such a horrible option. [Angrily.] Sorry I suggested it!
We can see she is hurt and angry, why? Because Aang don’t reciprocated her romantic feelings, she expect Aang want kiss her back. She want kiss him and get angry when Aang say no.
After that, they have their moment when finally they kiss
And we have two things to see about their romantic relationship:
a)
We can see Sokka looking her sister very suspect, he is not fool, he know what they do to get out the cave.
Aang’s gaze towards Katara may indicate that he has romantic feelings towards her and is looking for a connection or a response from her. Sokka’s crossing of his arms may be a sign that he has also noticed the romantic tension between Aang and Katara and may be protecting his sister or showing some discomfort with the situation. Katara’s blush suggests that she may also have romantic feelings for Aang and that the attention he is giving her makes her feel embarrassed or excited.
b) Now we have this:
Chong.
Meanwhile the moment Aang look Katara and she blush, Chong sing this:
Even if you’re lost, you can’t lose the love because it’s in your heart. Da, da, da ...
“Even if you’re lost”: Even Aang and Katara are confused or having bad moments.
“You can’t lose the love”: They never will loose their romantic feelings, their love to keep going.
“Because it’s in your heart.”: What Katara feels for Aang and viceversa is in their hearts and is truly that love, with that they get out the Cave of Two Lovers and suprass the problems.
The Chong song describe Aang and Katara feelings.
I hope you like it.
