So, today I present to y’all the first proper Katagan Pokémon. Harfiree.
Kataga Pokédex entry:
Harfiree. The Fire/Dark Jovial Widow Pokémon.
The folk tales tell of a Harfiree that met an old Thievul friend after a decade of hardship, where he happily told about a wife and house he despised and how his house had recently burnt down. When the Thievul offered their condolences regarding the house, the Harfiree replied happily that he was rather happy about it all, as his wife had been inside the house.
Harfiree is based on a Norwegian folk tale as written by Asbjørnsen and Moe. It is known as(translated) The hare that had been married.
The design for my fakemon region, Kataga’s, variant of Delibird. Katagan Delibird is heavily inspired by a yoke of Scandinavian fae called Fjøsnisse, which are a, usually, much more friendly variant of the redcaps of England and Manx. The word Nisse is also used in the name for Santa Claus in Norwegian, Julenisse. Which is where that connection is from. Nisse is also used in relation to prancing and pranksters. A child that is doing innocent, funny pranks are usually called a Rampenisse. This is why it is dark type. Fairy type is due to Nisse being fae.
The colour markings on Katagan Delibird come from the Eurasian bullfink, which is commonly depicted alongside the fjøsnisse in Christmas paintings. These classic Christmas images are also the reason for why it uses the tip of its crest feathers as a spoon. As nisse are often shown eating a big bowl of rice porridge with a large spoon.
In Norway, it is uncommon to give milk and cookies or such things to Santa, however you always leave out bowls of porridge in the barn for the fjøsnisse during winter, as a way of showing your thanks for them keeping your animals healthy, and bringing good harvests.
The Katagan Delibird is, in concept, intended to work as a really good support Pokémon for team and double battles with really high stats in defences and HP, real good supporter moveset, and decent abilities.

lots of things are going on,
but these too shall pass.

an endless innocent void--
