Book review: Love Starved by Kate Fierro
I had heard great things about this book before I started reading, so I did expect to enjoy it. What I wasn't prepared for was to fall so completely in love so quickly with both main characters and their individual and shared journeys. Whatever you might expect from this book going in: it is so much more!
Micah is a successful businessman who actually loves his job, but he's neglected his private life and doesn't think much about his personal hopes and dreams. Angel is a professional escort, entering the scene so collected and calm and confident. Micah's request seems impossible yet charmingly innocent: he wants to know what it's like to feel loved.
As the story begins to peel away the layers of both characters and we get to see beneath the surface, as both men get to see each other more and more for who they are, what unfolds is a story of friendship and kindness, of people genuinely caring about one another and learning about themselves in the process.
What it comes down to is the most basic human need of being needed and the deep-seated wish to matter.
The characters in this book are complex and likeable and wonderfully human. There is a depth to them that makes it impossible not to fall in love with them. And the plot that unfolds as their paths keep crossing is captivating and masterfully told.
This is going on the re-read list! Highly recommended!
