Riverparents + the first time they met their future spouse

Fred and Mary - The first day of forth grade. Fred pulled her hair (by accident he swore!) and she kicked him in the balls. As children, the two of them were basically Calvin and Susie from Calvin and Hobbs. 

FP and Gladys - Didn’t properly meet until FP joined the serpents. The two of them had to go do a job together and Gladys took the reigns, not trusting the kid to be in charge. (she was right…) He was dumb but, in spite of herself, she couldn’t help but find him cute and tempting. 

Alice and Hal - Sat next to each other during a field trip bus ride in third grade. Hal told his mother he’d get car sick sitting with her in the front, so he switched seats with Fred and wound up next to Alice. She complained the whole time about not wanting to sit next to someone who might puke but changed her tune when he shared the homemade cookies from his lunch bag with her. 

Hermione and Hiram - Literally the scene from the pilot of Archie seeing Veronica for the first time, only it was Hermione seeing Hiram for the first time while Fred sat across from her all pouty. It was the night before sophomore year and Hiram was transferring to RHS from prep school. He was also wearing a cape. 

Penelope and Clifford - At Pops right after the Blossoms adopted her. 🙃🙃🙃

Sierra and Myles - Off at college. She was a poetical science major, he was studying music performance. They seemed so different but they hit it off instantly. 

Tom and Kathy - Basic training in the army.

I hate the fact that the writers, not ONE SINGLE TIME, have mentioned how Kevin feels about his mom (apart from when he found out that his dad was cheating on her with Sierra). He never says little things like “I miss her” or “it’s been ____ days, weeks, months or years since I’ve last called or seen her”. I really hope that one day, she comes back to Riverdale or at least Kevin mentions her...

I'd love to see Kevin's mom, too. I've always pictured her as a woman who tried to have it all and then realized she really wasn't suited for motherhood and prized her career too much to want to slow down. I see her and Kevin loving each and her and Tom's divorce as being amicable and something they knew was a long time coming.It is incredibly disappointing how little we get to hear from Kevin about his mother (or Josie on her father, or either of them on how they feel about their families coming together). It's also very frustrating how little relevance Kevin's feelings are ever given by the writers ever. Even during episodes such as 2x07, when Kevin suspects his dad is cheating, concern for Kevin isn't even what drives his friends to investigate. Betty wants to prove Sheriff Keller is the Black Hood, and Veronica wants to prove Betty wrong. Neither of them really care all that much about Kevin's feelings, neither of them ever really try to comfort him in his worry about his father, and neither of them are ever seen comforting him after he's found out about the affair between his father and Mayor McCoy.I'm pointing all this out not for the sole purpose of pointing out how little consideration Betty and Veronica ever give Kevin, but to drive home a point about the writers. They really never prioritize Kevin's feelings. At all. It's not even a case of them not prioritizing them when they're not plot relevant, they don't even come up when it is plot relevant. During an episode where Kevin is expressing fear and worry for his dad, when we could get his perspective on his mom consistently working overseas, the person's whose feelings take precedence is . . .Betty. It's not about Kevin or his dad; it's about her hunt to find the Black Hood.And this is how Kevin is always used. He's never treated as as character. He's not written with any idea or thought to how a real person would be acting or thinking in his situation. He acts and thinks, or is mysteriously devoid of opinion, all depending on what other characters need him to do. He worried about his dad because Betty needs to investigate about the Black Hood. He's switch from supporting Fred as mayor to supporting Hermione as mayor because Archie needs a Black Circle to oppose. He's joined the cult so Betty can feel isolated. His opinions and alliances vary at random, switching without reason or explanation, leaving the audience to infer why he's doing things without clearly explaining. And while it would be more than fair to say "Inconsistency, thy name is Riverdale" and this applies to all characters, it's even more frustrating when Kevin gets so little screentime and in the way of development anyway. All of this is a long-winded way of saying that the reason the writers don't ever have Kevin talk about his mom is because they don't think of what he might act like as a person. They only think of what he needs to act like to help along the plots of the straight characters. Kevin's feelings aren't relevant.And it's truly disappointing that even in 2019, that's still where we are for gay characters.

If they ever bother introducing Kevin’s mom, I know she’s either going to be played by an unknown or a former 90s star, but after seeing the guns Martin’s wife is packing, I need future former Mrs. Keller to be muscley. Like goddamn, I’m yearning

What do you think Sheriff Keller and his wife were like? And how they met? And just like your overall idea of them? Why they “broke up”?

I spoke about this a bit here, if you’re interested. Forgive me, because I copy pasted a bit from there.

I think they were both Riverdale kids who grew up together and maybe fell apart after high school. Tom entered the police academy and Kathy left to join the army. It wasn’t until years later when Kathy was inactive for a while that the two reconnected. They got married before she left again, only this time Tom left with her.

Tom knew what he was marrying into. Kathy was working her way up to colonel. He remembered insisting she not change her name when they got married. She’d earned her titles under her birth name and he had no right to toss Keller at the end. But she’d liked the sound of it. Colonel Kathy Keller. The alliteration really got her.

The first few years were good. So good. When Kevin came along, he was a stay at home dad. Best years of his life were those when Kevin was young. Hanging out with the army wives and their small kids and raising their son.

It wasn’t until Kevin was nearing middle school age they all sat down and had the talk. Kevin was struggling. It was hard for him, moving from base to base, to different countries. He’d stated quiet for so long, but he longed for the stability of a permanent home, school, friendships that lasted more than a few months.

So Tom and Kevin headed back to Riverdale. Moved into a nice place just on the outskirts of the woods. Tom went back to the Riverdale Police Department and Kevin enrolled in Riverdale Junior High. Kathy would come home when she could. Sometimes a week, sometimes three months, but never long enough.

“It’s my whole life, Tom. You know that.”He bit his tongue. What about him and Kevin?

It’s not that divorce never crossed their mind. They weren’t unhappy, they were just lonely apart.

I don’t think the two of them are broken up, to be honest. Veronica told him it must be lonely and it seemed to imply they’re still married, just apart because she’s still serving.

We need to embrace the Psalms for what they really are. In "The Songs of Jesus" by Timothy and Kathy Keller, we are shown the wonderful truths the Psalms contain. It is the songs of Jesus that bring us true intimacy. Allow Jesus to minister His songs!!!

In our Christian lives, we need to keep our focus on Jesus Christ and what He has one for us. As we keep our focus on Jesus, we need to listen to His songs. By listening to His songs, the relationship we have with Him will grow stronger. Alice said that she sold her house “probably to some overseas buyer”. A post on Tumblr said that it could be Kevin’s mother coming back to Riverdale and buying a new house, since she’s no longer living with Tom. I think that’d be a great storyline.

Oooh, I really like that idea, and I’d love to see it come into play! The mention of “an overseas buyer” seems like such a specific inclusion that I really want to think it’s foreshadowing, but with Riverdale, who knows. I would absolutely adore it if they brought in Kevin’s mom, and I hope she’d be just as supportive of him as Tom is.

If Kevin’s mom was ever to be introduced, who would you have play her and what would you want her to be like?

I have no idea why, but Shannon Elizabeth popped into my head. I'm not set on that, but I'm rolling with it.

I kind of want her to be the hard ass parent. She's military, so she already has that going for her. I guess she doesn't know about this affair yet so that really fucking blows.

I headcanon she's not from Riverdale, but that she and Tom met in the military. Just my thoughts.

For some reason though, I feel like we will never meet her. Like ever. Tom and Sierra will eventually get married and there will just be some throw away line about her.
