Busted out of my comfort zone last night and do you know what I discovered? One: I have the absolute best friends and Instagram followers EVER! Great big ginormous shout out and THANK YOU to each and every one of you who came out to see me last night! Loved loved loved hearing, "I follow you on Instagram!" but loved even more connecting in person. (Even if I was a little melted, sweaty, and awkward!) Felt so incredibly loved last night! And discovery two: drawing felt SO DARN GOOD!!! Over the last ten days, I have been cleaning off the dust and rust and drew more in the past week than I had in the past ten years... and see no end in sight! I found the groove again and although I have absolutely no idea where the groove is headed, I know our first stop is resurrecting my @Etsy shop with some goodies from last night! Ever so slowly, it's starting to come back to me. Found the flow... now if only I could spend hours (okay, DAYS) uninterrupted, going where it leads me. But that's not life at the moment. So here I am, drifting in the current for as long as I can, returning when I can. Holy moly, when I became serious and made changes to embrace and encourage creativity back into my life, things jumped into action! And, as with many things, I'm having a momentary flurry of "Holy crap, what did I just say yes to?! I'm not ready! I have so many things that I wanted to be PERFECT before I announced the resurrection of my art-ful life!" Good thing flurries pass. In the midst of one (just a few moments ago) I sat with the word "resurrect," for a while and turned to Merriam Webster for what, I'm not sure. Maybe for some sign of reassurance? And ya' know what? I got it! Resurrect is a TRANSITIVE VERB. An action word in transition! Of course, I knew that already but there's something about seeing it in black and white in front of you and realizing that it perfectly describes my art, my writing, and my life in general. After years and years of, quite literally, keeping my art and creativity in a closet collecting dust, I'm ready to be seen again. So when a last minute window of opportunity opened up for me, I said yes. Far from perfect, and still quite a bit dusty, you can catch me at @littlejoescb on this Saturday, July 20th, for the #katonahartstroll... in the window... creating art. Yep.
