Keeping Up with the Cullens - BD Episode 2, pt. 4.
I love Kaure and Gustavo but like...
Why do the Cullens even have "housekeeping" on an island that
1. They hardly ever go to
2. Is super sunny
3. Is the one place on the planet they can be themselves
4. Is supposedly stocked with large predators
5. Is very likely to have smashed bed frames and other clues that something is off
kaure and gustavo stepping onto isle esme in breaking dawn
Random vocabulary of the day: Kaure sports words such as the following which have a good funky mix of syllable shapes going on:
huaglüt ‘ear’
spgai ‘tooth’
waɛmbɛli ‘finger’
axlit ‘skin’
pongpula ‘dust’
matupaplɛ ‘star’
timberkluk ‘green’
(from the appendix of Clouse 1997)
Also featuring an intriguing front-heavy vowel inventory of /i y É› a o/ (I guess with [u] still as an allophone of /y/ though, as per the last).
AND ANOTHER dumb racist trope Smeyer uses in Breaking Dawn is the Native woman that happens to be very familiar in the spOOooky supernatural
ik.. kaure a bad bitch though.. she knew edward could kill her in an instant and she still spat in his face.. braver than any other character in the series.. queen shit
Like A Midsummer Night's Dream, like magic. You'll find who you're really looking for, and maybe then all of this will make sense.
