The attorney general will award those who worked “to support the nomination” of Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, according to an email reviewed by The New York Times.
While Democrats are calling for Kavanaugh’s head impeachment based on additional allegations that he sexually assaulted women in college, the Trump administration is preparing to give the Department of Justice’s second-highest award--the “Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service”--to the DoJ attorneys who got Kavanaugh on the U.S. Supreme Court despite the original allegations that he sexually assaulted women in college.
This isn’t new: In 2017, the attorneys who got Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court were similarly honored. You see, Trump has made it very clear that he loves it when people make publicly displays of their loyalty to him. And also that he loves it when ostensibly neutral government entities display blatant partisanship, as long as it’s in favor of him and the GOP.
