I’ve been inspired by seeing other people work their way through watching or re-watching Stargate, so even though I have very limited time to watch TV (never mind time by myself to watch TV) , I decided to give it a go.

I managed to watch the first part of ‘Children of the Gods’ this evening (up to the point where Sha’re gets abducted). It was all very nostalgic. I did laugh at the moment where Hammond comes into the holding cell to speak to Jack and Kawalsky, and Jack has his idea about contacting Daniel and heads to the gate with the box of tissues, leaving Hammond to follow in exasperation (the first time of many).

And the briefing room scene… The ‘Is that tough enough or do we have to arm wrestle?’ line is my favourite, but the moment afterwards where Samuels says something about burying the gate, and Jack and Sam just share a look about how ridiculous the idea is, despite only meeting a few minutes before, says a lot.

Directed by Roland Emmerich. With Kurt Russell, James Spader and Jaye Davidson.

Movie came out on a weekend where I was attending a Star Trek convention in San Francisco. A theater a few blocks away was showing the movie. After hearing from many fans how awesome the movie, I was finally able to see in on Sunday, along with a LOT of other convention fans.

The music by David Arnold during the opening credits was marvelous.

During the movie, our section of fans were cheering. A ton of fun to watch.

Stargate the movie gave birth to a Stargate franchise: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe, Stargate Infinity (animated); Stargate Origins, and movies from Stargate SG-1: Stargate: The Ark of Truth; Stargate: Continuum
