why am i being attacked under my critical role yuri post
who: Investigation Squad ( @prudenceisawitch, @buffynpcs-cursed ) when: 2nd June 1989 where: Coroner's Office
As the sheriffs walk, the soles of their boots produce a resonant thud, each step amplified by the acoustics of the long and narrow hallway. The air is thick with the musty scent of neglected corners and old paper. It's hard for Laurie to keep his comments to himself, especially when the lights overhead flicker intermittently, clear that some of the bulbs have long since burnt out.
The coroner's office is tucked away in a forsaken corner at the bottom of the hospital, where Judd the Janitor moves along the corridor with his clunky cleaning machine, as if searching for something lost. Laurie still doesn't say anything, but instead shares a knowing look with Kaya that reads: So creepy.
After knocking on the door, Laurie holds it open for Kaya to enter before stepping into Pru's office himself. "Hey Pru," he greets with a small nod. Then, as he stands with his hands on his hips, he directs his attention to the body on the cold steel table. "What'd you have for us?"

Once upon the time he was a relevant antagonist.
Kaya is a shard, which is a race of rockpeople in my world. He tends to be obsessive, but he's very charming and charismatic.

triggers: mentions of blood, sickness
When she was born, Maia was the miracle her parents wanted. Where other families were a party of four, the Dimitrovi had a hard time increasing their family from being just the two of them. So when she entered the world, they thought everything would fall into place. Little did they know that they’re baby girl would go through a countless amount of complications before the age of five. Despite being doctors, neither of them could have predicted the breathing complications Maia would have. It started out as coughing fits, something that wasn’t unheard of with young children. But as she got older it progressed to struggling to breathe and eventually coughing of blood. It didn’t take a genius to realize that with the lack of clean air, her already struggling lungs were beginning to fail. It wasn’t until they decided to leave her in the hospital, where the air was just a little bit cleaner, that they began to manage her health.
She spent countless of days inside, lying in bed and wearing a specialized oxygen mask at all times. It wasn’t an ideal life for a six year old girl but she learned to live with it. With all the time she spent inside, she became entranced with books, gleaming information from the pages as if the scientific concepts in them were the most fascinating thing ever. And to her, they were. It was around the time that she became transfixed with science that Alia Terra became public news. Her family, just like many others, hoped to win a ticket to an adventure of a lifetime and a chance for Maia to finally get a chance at a somewhat normal life. They spent three years of their lives, working harder than ever in the hospitals, rising the ranks in an attempt to maybe be sent by the government. She was nine years old when she finally got the good news that they would be going on the Third Pilgrimage.
Maia had entered Alia Terra in a coughing fit. Having not been exposed to Earth 1’s outside air in years, her family could only hope she could last the journey. But as time went on, she adjusted the fresh air. Only wearing her specialized mask for a month before the various doctors, including her parents, deemed her healthy enough to go on about her life without it. The first thing she did was start school, exceeding in all her classes but remaining quite shy within her first few years. It wasn’t until a few classmates broke through her walls that she began to speak up more, slowly enjoying life here more and more. By the time she eighteen Maia had graduated from Abraham Yates High School at the top of her class, her good grades and love of science to allow her to quickly be recruited by the scientists to start an internship. Now she’s twenty-five years old and slowly making her way to finally become a full-fledged scientist. On occasion she can be found using a modified inhaler but it’s often rare for her to do so.
She remembers the moment when all the scientists got wind that the portal had broke down. They were all sent down there to identify the problem, only to come back with various ideas but no solid answers. Accusations and conspiracies flew back and forth. While some thought way too many people we’re entering the portal for one pilgrimage, other’s thought the Outsiders had done something to the device itself. Regardless of the theories, Maia believes they should focus less on who and why and just fix the whole thing before Earth 1 has nothing left to send.
