Just a thought, but in the manga, when we meet Gaara again after the time skip, it’s implied that he went through this intense healing process post friendship-no-jutsu, that he rebuilt his relationship with his village and that he was now beloved and supported as Kazekage. 

However, he is listed as the fifth kazekage. His dad, who was murdered by Orochimaru during the Chunin Exams, was the fourth kazekage. Unless Suna went a long ass time without a kage, Gaara got the position almost immediately. There would have been no time to really convince people that he wasn’t still a psychotic monster that killed people for fun. Also, he basically became president while he was still a teen. Suna had so one else that they thought might be a better pick than the crazy and universally reviled monster child. Not a one.

Since I have caught up on all my work for the day and I have nothing else to do since I put Shinki to bed, I think I am going to clean the entire kitchen. And maybe the living room. There is a stain in the carpet that has been there for years and I am going to try and get it removed

This kind of just happened honestly, I was intending to draw an original character from a short story me and my friend have been working on for two years but somehow he turned into Gaara. Oh well, happy accident! :) It’s the Boruto version of him but I wasn’t too thrilled with the hair, so I made my own take on it. Please don’t repost, thank you.
